Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

Guesthouse Agae is a limited stay for one group that has been renovated from an old private house.Located in a very convenient location, about 550 meters (about a 7-minute walk) from the Kumano Kodo and Kinro-Oji, and within a 1-minute walk of a supermarket (A-COOP), a bus stop (Kodo Aruki no Sato Chikatsuyu), and a restaurant (Tororoya). The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so we will do our best to accommodate questions, advice, and pick-up and drop-off when you need it.We can also provide a personal guide, so please feel free to consult us. In order to enjoy the most beautiful Nanki sea, please come to the inn as soon as possible, and get up a little early the next day to see the sunrise from the sea. Take a leisurely soak in the morning bath while watching the beautiful rising sunrise.You can also experience such an extraordinary way of enjoying yourself. Until now, there were no restaurants nearby (convenience stores are within a few minutes' drive), but a Japanese restaurant has opened just around the corner. You can also enjoy ramen at lunch time. If you want to have dinner, you can also introduce this restaurant.(Advance reservation is required for dinner) There is ample parking and free parking on the premises for more than 10 cars.Please come by car as it is. It is also conveniently located as a base for visiting Kumano. Please visit Nachiyama after doing Shiogori (cleansing your mind and body with seawater) at Nachinohama, which is a 4-minute walk. Convenience stores are a 3-minute walk away, and there are many supermarkets, restaurants, Katsuura Onsen, and Yukawa Onsen within a 10-minute drive, making it a very convenient location. Enjoy delicious seafood and hot springs to fill your body and mind. Relax in the garden with a cup of tea and enjoy a luxurious time in harmony with nature.

In front of the house, you can enjoy playing in the river, barbecues, bonfires, insect collecting, bird watching, stargazing, mountain walking, and more. We also provide a kitchen and barbecue grill, so please bring only the ingredients. Relax with family and friends at this peaceful place to stay.
