Had a wonderful stay. The villa was even better than we anticipated from the pictures. The location was extremely peaceful and had great views out over the bay which was just as pretty at night with all the distant twinkling lights as it was in the day with sea views and mountains in the distance. Beds were quite soft but extremely comfortable. The house was well equipped. You’re guaranteed a great stay here.

My daughter and I have just returned from a wonderful week at the villa. The villa itself is set overlooking Souda Bay and the view from the bedroom balcony is outstanding and something I'd never tire of. Briefly, the inside space is ideal for a family with everything you need for your stay to hand. It was also spotlessly clean with great touches such as cool boxes for beach days. The outside space is amazing. The pool is a great size and is surrounded by lots of room to relax including comfortable shaded areas and a great BBQ. It's in a peaceful location and although you can potentially walk to a couple of villages I would recommend renting a car. Everything, including the great beach resort of Almyrida is then only 5 minutes away. Joanne and Doug were great hosts, very responsive and on hand prior to arrival making everything plain sailing. Would definitely return and am happy to recommend to others.

Fantastic stay. House is exactly as described and photos accurately represent the house and its setting. The house is very clean and was easy to keep clean. The kids loved the pool and there were lots of floats & pool toys for them to play with. Location is quite rural and a car is essential. Pauls local knowledge and recommendations were excellent. Would definitely return!

The view from the house is even more beautiful than the photos can show! And it was heavenly quiet and absolutely private. Upon arrival, the fridge was super generously filled, the hosts were always responsive and super discreet. Dimitri lives very close by and has a particularly great way of making you feel absolutely at home and welcome. The pool was also always perfectly clean. A really very special charming place to fall in love with great hosts!

We were in Crete from 08/30 to 9/20/2024 and really liked the house "Surmelina". It is located above the village of Kokkino, so it has a fantastic view over the Souda Bay, from the open sea to the port of Souda and the Lefka Ori. The view can be enjoyed at any time of the day. The spacious property leaves plenty of space, in the house there is everything that is sufficient for a 3-week vacation. Kristina, the nice "manager", took care of it, asked several times if everything was ok and brought fresh towels and bedding weekly. We would always book Crete vacations to Kokkino, away from the steadily growing tourist crowds and because of the location of the house.

A house with a soul! Art lovers will enjoy the stay - breathtaking sea view, quiet location, a great pool (perfectly sufficient for several people), authentic and friendly environment as well as neighbors - it really is a dream! Furnishings are loving and convenient. Everything (towels, linens...) is there. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook well. A car is necessary, but you can walk to a small grocery store in a few minutes. Great restaurants and tavernas in the area. Ed and Sue are very helpful and friendly hosts!
