Located in the heart of the Nakasendo Road, in a village at the foot of the Kisonokoma Highlands, is Ryojoan, an old traditional house built 150 years ago. This small Japanese-style room is great for solo travelers or couples.From the windows, you can enjoy views of the fields and the mountains. This property is located in the heart of the mountains, where you can hear the calls of frogs and insects at night, the bugling of deer in the distance, and the lively sounds of birds in the morning. On summer nights, the temperature is around 20°C (68°F).There is no air conditioning, so you will be using only a fan. In winter, it can be as cold as 15 ° C below freezing, and there are occasional days when you can see diamond dust.There is a wood-burning stove in the common area.An oil fan heater is provided in the room.These are very typical amenities found in a Japanese home. It is a no meal stay. Feel free to cook in the shared kitchen where everyone gathers.It is fully equipped with cookware and tableware. It is 25 minutes by bus from Kiso-Fukushima Station and 3 minutes on foot from Oharaue Bus Stop. There is also a parking garage. This is a room with a bunk bed, and it was made with the image of an old-fashioned youth hostel. Please feel free to use this place as a family or group. That's right, this building used to be a youth hostel.Our family took over the management of this building in 2024, and we are currently renovating it ourselves, room by room, to make it a place where guests can stay comfortably. At night you can hear frogs and bugs, deer chirping in the distance, and birds in the mornings in the bustling mountains. There is no air conditioning because summer nights are around 20°C and you can use just a fan. In winter, it can be as cold as 15 ° C below freezing, and there are occasional days when you can see diamond dust.There is a large wood-burning stove in the shared area, and a kerosene fan heater is provided in the room.This is a standard Japanese heating system. It is a no meal stay. Feel free to cook in the shared kitchen where everyone gathers.It is fully equipped with cookware and tableware. This building was formerly a youth hostel, and we, having taken over its management, are now gradually renovating it ourselves to create a place where guests can stay comfortably.
