Kagoshima Spa & Retreat “Meow Ken” <Comfort>

RachelRating, 5 stars24 months ago
Our stay at Shoji's family onsen was delightful. Shoji was so communicative and helpful. We picked his place based on proximity to the airport but didn't realize how remote it is and how infrequently the busses run. Shoji cheerfully offered to pick us up from the train station and to take us to the airport early the next morning. He gave us a personalized tour of the facility and made us feel so welcome! The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed hiking around the surrounding hills. Definitely recommend renting a car or having plenty of time to get in and out before and after staying there, but we are so glad we were able to make it to this location thanks to Shoji. Highly recommended!

Yakushima Guesthouse Suginoko【JPN style/private】

ChiaraRating, 5 stars24 months ago
The guesthouse was really nice. The room was maybe a bit small for two people with luggage but since we spent most of our time exploring the island that wasn’t a problem. The option to get lunch boxes is amazing! There are also shoe driers. We definitely needed them after hiking in the rain. It is a bit further away from Anbo but it is still a distance you could walk. You can also take the bus. The bus station (Isobe) is really close. We just couldn’t find it on the bus plan but it is two stations before Gouchoumae I think. There is a sushi restaurant and a small supermarket nearby. Also quite near there is a restaurant called pasta katagirisan which has tasty and cheap food. There are also shoe driers in case you need them. The hosts were really welcoming. I’d definitely come back again.
A compact guest room features a single bed with white linens and a neatly arranged towel. A wooden desk with a chair sits beside the window, which offers views of greenery. Soft lighting and neutral walls create a simple, welcoming ambiance.

Yakushima Guesthouse Suginoko 【bed/private bath】

I had a very nice stay in this Air BnB. I was looking for a place to stay one more night in Yakushima after having checked out from another place which I had stayed. The staff were very polite and kind. They also have some breakfast and meal options for those looking to have something to eat before heading out on early morning Yakushima hiking. There is a nearby supermarket minutes away for those wanting to take food with them for Yakushima hikes as well. The staff explained everything clearly and were available for any questions. Yakushima is truly a beautiful island full of beautiful nature. Thank you for your kindness during my stay!

A Beachfront Workspace and cozy tatami room

LiesbethRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Staying in the tatami room at Una Casita was a truly heartwarming experience – one I won’t easily forget. The room is small but beautifully decorated, with everything you need. If you love Japanese tatami and futon sleeping, you’ll feel right at home – I certainly did. By day, it’s a lovely spot to stretch, do yoga, read, or just relax in the cosy surprise seat. It’s on the street side, so do close the windows at night to keep out any traffic noise. There’s no ocean view from the room itself, but just steps away is the bungalow terrace – my favourite place to start the day. Watching dolphins, soaking in the ocean view, and seeing Mount Kaimon across the bay… it’s pure magic. May was perfect for supping, swimming, and enjoying fresh seafood. And meeting the host? A true gift – warm, thoughtful, and inspiring. I’ve been to Japan over ten times, and Una Casita is one of the most special places I’ve stayed. Five stars, without a doubt. Hope to meet again! 🙏🏼🐬

The house was very thoughtful down to the last detail to make it easy for guests to use. It was stylish, the bedding was lovely, and it was very comfortable. In addition, the host's family was very kind and provided heartfelt hospitality. The host played Sanshin for us, told us about the history, and made our interactions fun, giving us a moving experience. It is a highly recommended house. Thank you very much.

Oceanfront Oasis for Nomads, sunset, dulphine etc.

稲葉幸太郎Rating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was a lovely experience, as if I was living by the sea. The moment I opened the window, I was captivated by the spectacular view of Kinko Bay and the gentle flow of time.Wake up to the sound of waves in the morning, read or work while watching the sea from the balcony in the afternoon, and take a deep breath while being enveloped by the golden sunset in the evening. It was a time when everything liberated the five senses and I could return to nature and myself. The room is clean, quiet and relaxing. The desk overlooking the sea was ideal for nomadic work, and it felt like I was working while interacting with nature. The consideration for organic living and the host's polite and warm hospitality further enhanced the charm of this place. It was a valuable place to experience "another way of life".I highly recommend this inn for those who love the sea and sky, those who want to free their thoughts, and those who want to find themselves.
A panoramic view of rolling green mountains is presented, framed by lush trees in the foreground. The natural landscape highlights the serene beauty of the countryside, creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation amid nature.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful traditional Japanese home in a quiet neighbourhood. The house is large and well equipped. We had our own private area. The host is very charming and welcoming. We also booked the meals and were served delicious and healthy home-made dinner and breakfast with vegetables and fruits. The tea with herbs from the host's own garden was especially delicious.
