Wheatlands Country House on historic Karoo farm

Having family scattered across South Africa means coming together over December has often proven difficult, however at Wheatlands we felt we were coming home. Our four families comprising of eight adults, three children, and two dogs felt welcomed and cared for throughout the stay. With amble oppertunity to be "together" while being able to have our own space. David & Kirsten were delightful hosts. Charlotte and Chloe were an absolute treat and Earnst served us so well. We would highly recommend visiting this home, which is enriched with history if you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful stay in the heart of the Karoo. We hope to one day return!

Real farm life at The Shed

Warmly welcoming hosts and relaxed and comfortable facilities with everything we needed for our overnight stay. Unfortunately we took a wrong turn when arriving but Nick went out of his way to assist us in getting back on track and even waited for us on the road to guide us in. We wish we had had more time to look around the farm - hopefully another time...

Fisherman's Cottage in the beautiful Karoo

Fantastic Karoo getaway, peaceful and quiet, beautiful cottage with everything you need. Bit of a dirt road to get there, but I was able to do in a small car without any issues. I had to do some remote work while on the road and this was a great place to hunker down for a bit and do some work while experiencing a bit of Karoo life. No wifi but cellphone hotspot was fine for work, just had to move my phone around to get the best spot. Graaff-Reinet is about 1.5 hours away. Long stretches of empty road in this area, but bow and then you find a nice Farmstall next the road that is like a little oasis of Cape style food and culture, I loved it.

What a lovely stay in the bush. Quiet, isolated and relaxing, just what we were looking for. Rob is also a great host. We felt right at home. The clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation was lovely, but what we particularly enjoyed was the abundance of well kept dirt roads crisscrossing the farm - they made for excellent trail running while spotting numerous buck and birds. We would highly recommend a weekend at Copper Moon.

We had a lovely stay in the castle! The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. Judy was a fantastic host, always attentive and helpful, and Albert was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. It was a great stay for the kids—both the pool near the castle and the playground near the river were perfect for them! Our safari guide, Amos, was very knowledgeable, personable, and made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this stay for families!

Absolute dream place - jacuzzi , ordered fab homemade lasagna cookin the air fryer - Byo wine and spirts as no bar - not so easy to find goggle sent us a wild Detour - make sure prepare your route in advance ( we didn’t) . No TV ( which was great ) - she does a top rated safari but recommended us elsewhere as we could only a half day safari ( early morning 5am ! ) saw ever single animal known to Africa !! Thanks Sophie - merci x

Very private and quite. Gardens are beautifully taken care of. The units are perfect for a short or longer stay and has everything you could need. We used the frozen meal and breakfast option and it worked perfectly.

We were in Addo National Park and then stayed with Nita and Mike. It was just fantastic!! The two are very lovable and totally hospitable. Our room was an absolute dream. It was very clean and lovingly decorated. The garden was beautiful, we couldn't get enough of it. There were so many plants and also fruit trees. A totally delicious breakfast was also offered. It was just a dream and if we had more time, we would have liked to have stayed longer. We can wholeheartedly recommend the place to anyone coming to the area or to Addo. Thanks again, we'd love to come back. 😊
