This was a wonderful place to stay while my sister and I were hiking in the area. It was close to the state parks and was a quiet and peaceful place. The decor was perfect for the cabin-type feel of the home and having two bedrooms and two bathrooms was great. The additional vanity area in the master bedroom with a sink was a wonderful bonus! We also enjoyed the jacuzzi after hiking for several hours each day, and the beds were very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here!

Everything was perfect! The location was close to everything we needed. The house was clean and organized. It was so chilly outside, we made some soup in the crockpot. We appreciated the containers to take our extras home! Thank you!

Home was immaculate and tastefully decorated. Access was always easy. Neighborhood was quiet with downtown restaurants only 1 mile away. Host was very pleasant and accommodating to small requests.

We enjoyed the privacy of the farmhouse and the location to Utica, Starve Rock and our family and friends. It was a very hot weekend, but the breeze across the cornfields was welcoming. The kitchen has a nice array of basic needs. The crockpot made meal time very convenient. The beds we used were very comfortable. Thank you George for your hospitality and sharing the farmhouse with us.

Middle of everything, Close to Starved Rock

The entire building is very clean, from the entrance to the actual unit. Debra was easily contacted and responded quickly. The train sounds it horn at crossings and the unit is near the crossing, it is loud and it vibrates the unit. We weren’t really bothered by this or missed sleep because of it. This is our second time staying at this listing and would stay again if needed.

Lori, great host and nice place. We will absolutely consider staying at Lori's place if our travels bring us back to SR.

Starved Rock - 2BR 2BA rustic cabin

We enjoyed our stay at Mark's place. It was very convenient for several trails at Starved Rock. We also spent some time in Ottawa to check out restaurants which is only about 20 minutes away. As for the actual place, we were 2 families with younger children and they had plenty of space to run around. The kids appreciated the extra board games and toys. We liked the openness of the space to be able to keep an eye on them. We did not use the actual stove. The main fridge does not cool very well so we primarily used the beverage cooler for refrigeration. But other than that, everything else was great.
The upper deck of the houseboat features several lounge chairs arranged for relaxation, facing a calm marina with various boats docked. Lush greenery is visible in the distance under a bright sky with scattered clouds reflecting in the water.

Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings on Tony’s houseboat. Had coffee every morning atop the boat listening to the birds sing, the sound of water and watching the geese. It was great for relaxing, reading and writing. It was also a perfect jumping off spot to surrounding towns, State parks, and great hiking while offering a quiet place to return to for rest and relaxation for the next days activities. The restaurant at the marina had a fabulous outside eating area right above the water. The service and the food were both really good. We will be back.
