Travelers Hideout #2

SandraRating, 5 stars10 months ago
Such a beautiful home. we stayed for 3 nights to attend a weekend wedding. Added bonus it was in a fabulous location with great sites & scenic views within a short drive. The house was perfect size for our family & Allen was very accommodating to our special needs. We’d definitely love to stay again when visiting our family out of state.

Beautiful home in the Sanders Beach neighborhood

DavidRating, 5 stars6 months ago
I was very impressed with Denice and how she responded to every message I sent. The house made me feel like I was home. Very well decorated and plenty of kitchen products. I have already recommended her to my friends. I spent 3 weeks there and really cannot find anything to be critical of. Tanks for being a great host Denice!

The Wood View: Secluded, Dog Friendly, Hot Tub

QuinnRating, 5 stars2 months ago
My husband and I and two Labs enjoyed our stay! Very spacious!! We were here on a ski vacation and loved how close we were to Schweitzer! Kitchen had everything thing we needed! We are used to very firm mattress, mattress for us; was too soft. We enjoyed the fireplace heat in the master room 😊. Once the dogs were used to the house, they chilled out. We loved being able to drive into shop/garage and unload all our gear and stay dry! We were able to walk the dogs, in the snow and enjoy the beauty of winter. The road had some traffic, not much…we kept our dogs on leashes though. If they saw deer, we may not be able to stop them 😊. We definitely would stay here again. The hosts are very prompt in answering our questions and that is appreciated.

LogCabin Getaway: WIFI, GameRoom, Firepit, pets OK

TammyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Jesse's cabin is in a beautiful private setting. Feels like it's deep in the woods but it's only minutes from town, lake & restaurants. Floor plan is great for multiple families with 2 bedrooms & a bathroom on main level. Game room down a flight of stairs in the garage (thankful for the door at top for toddlers) is great for inside fun without the noise. We ran out of time & didn't have a chance to use it. Master bed, bath & loft upstairs from main level. The huge L shaped covered porch (complete with propane bbq) is amazing. Porch has a table & 4 comfy chairs & also 4 more comfy camping chairs to use where you need them. Firepit area is great with lots of room to spread out with benches included. Kitchen had all the basics. Glad I brought paper plates to cut back on dishes. (No dishwasher) Complimentary bottle of wine, snacks & soda were a nice touch. Jesse is flexible & attentive if you need anything. Be prepared to get your steps in loading & unloading tho! I would stay here again.

Riverfront Cabin Retreat with Hot-Tub!

RonRating, 5 stars2 months ago
If I could give this place 10 Stars I would. Jake and Kim ended up getting us in last minute because our other Airbnb had some issues. Things were looking pretty bleak but they came through and saved our vacation. While I didn't get a chance to really do any exploring since we were doing some skiing and ended up getting in while it was dark. What I did see of the river was awesome. I'll definitely be coming back with our extended family in the summertime to take advantage of the area. The place is quiet clean and comfortable. and the hot tub was a lifesaver after a hard day of skiing. Really hard to get out of 😅

Perfect Place

NancyRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Stayed for a week, great place, loved it! Location is slightly remote, but once we found the cabin it was really pretty simple to get in and out - a couple one lane roads, but they are quite short and only shared with a few other cabins. And the remote location is beautiful and peaceful, in a pine forest with only a few quiet neighbors while we were here. Very clean, very homey and comfortable. Large, level gravel parking area including a fire pit and grill (always be aware of any local fire restrictions though!). Trash disposal is a bit of a challenge, but this is quite understandable given the fact that you are in bear country here, and the host does provide clear instructions on where and how to dispose of trash. The host, Jennifer, always responded very quickly to all communication and always went out of her way to be helpful. Bottom line is that we felt quite at home in this wonderful cabin, and would love to come back again and spend more time!

Your guide to Idaho

Welcome to Idaho

Laying claim to hot springs in the high desert and rugged canyons that channel thrilling whitewater runs, the Gem State’s diverse landscapes are the perfect settings for off-the-grid getaways. The scenery ranges from rocky to surreal in such notable outdoor spots as the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Craters of the Moon National Monument, and City of Rocks National Reserve. In central Idaho, the resort town of Sun Valley draws skiers and snowboarders to its famous slopes.

Eastern Idaho serves as a gateway to Yellowstone National Park, which spills into the state from neighboring Wyoming. Rugged adventurers often head to Idaho’s northern panhandle, where the Snake River rushes through remote Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America. In Boise, the largest city, Idaho’s rugged side gives way to one of the nation’s fastest growing metropolises. While many people know Idaho best for its “famous potatoes,” as the official license plates declare, it’s increasingly popular for its craft breweries and burgeoning wine regions.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Idaho

Idaho’s distinct seasons each have their own draws, with winter and summer ranking as the most popular for their wide range of outdoor activities. For winter action, head to the highest elevations, where heavy snow keeps ski towns hopping all season. As the snow melts in the mountains, spring wildflowers blossom; by May, rushing rivers kick off the rafting season in a place sometimes referred to as the capital of American whitewater. With generally sunny and balmy weather, summer is prime time at natural parks and on hiking trails. Warm weather lingers through September and October, when the changing of the leaves show the state in full color.

Top things to do in Idaho

Snake River Valley wineries

More than 60 wineries dot the Snake River Valley, where a wide variety of grapes grow in the ancient volcanic soils. The valley was designated in 2007 as the first American Viticultural Area in Idaho. Its low profile makes for a more laid-back touring experience. It’s common to find winemakers pouring flights in their low-key tasting rooms, many open by appointment only. Sipping your way along the Sunnyslope Wine Trail gives you an easy introduction to the young Idaho wine scene.

Bruneau Dunes State Park

Hikers climb up shifting mountains of sand in Bruneau Dunes State Park, where you’ll find the largest single dune in North America. Trails trace across the park’s varied landscapes, which range from windswept sands, to marsh, to lakes popular with fishers. The visitor center also rents sandboards, which let you zip down the slopes like a snowboarder in the desert.

Shoshone Falls

In the Snake River Valley flows one of the most magnificent waterfalls in the United States. While you might hear it referred to as the Niagara of the West, Shoshone Falls is, at 212 feet (64.6 m), actually higher than the East Coast’s famous Niagara Falls. Melting snow dripping from the Rocky Mountains make spring the ideal season to see the water thunder over its wide rim.
