Turn on or off notifications for your connected smart lock

You can choose to receive text (SMS), email, and/or push notifications that give you important info about your smart lock and when your guests use it to access your place.

Turn on or off smart lock notifications

Keep in mind: Turning on or off these notifications applies to all notifications related to your listing activity, not just those related to your smart lock.

To manage notifications about guests who’ll use your smart lock and changes to your lock status:

  1. Go to Notifications
  2. Click Account
  3. Go to Account activity and policies
  4. Next to Listing activity, click Edit
  5. Click to turn on or off notifications (the checkmark means on)

What smart lock notifications you’ll receive

If you choose to receive notifications, we’ll let you know:

  • When your guests check in for the first time. You’ll receive a notification letting you know that your guest accessed your place for the first time using your smart lock. (You won’t be notified when it’s used after the first time.)
  • If the status of your smart lock changes. We’ll quickly let you know if your smart lock goes offline, was disconnected, or has a low battery. Find out more about smart lock statuses.
  • If your guest’s code changes. We’ll let you know if a new code is shared with your guest. This includes if a backup code is shared with your guest to ensure that they can access your place for the entire duration of their stay.
  • When codes are shared with guests for confirmed bookings. If you have any confirmed bookings when you connect your smart lock to Airbnb, codes will be shared with your guests right away, and we’ll let you know that they were shared. Find out more about what happens to confirmed bookings when you connect your smart lock to Airbnb.

Connecting your smart lock to Airbnb is only available to certain Hosts with listings in the US or Canada. Find out more about which Hosts are eligible to connect a smart lock to Airbnb.
