Family-friendly vacation rentals in Hatteras Island

Best of both world's, sound and close to ocean side. AMAZING sunsets. One of our favorite spots was sitting in the dock enjoying the breeze and walking the private beach finding different shells and hermit crabs. The kids obviously really liked the beach, hot tub and pool. We also liked learning how to crab. Oh and skim board! Thank you for sharing your home and for our wonderful memories!

Amazing place to stay in OBX! Highly recommend! Beautiful home with lovely decor. Clean home and grounds. Private and so peaceful. Pool so refreshing, hot tub a great bonus. Beds are really comfortable, lots of extra pillows too. kitchen fully stocked with whatever you could need to cook or make drinks (appliances and dishware, etc.) Garage full of nice extras of bicycles, kayaks, life vests and beach fun playing in the sand for the little ones. outdoor shower to get the sand off too. Some nice restaurants, convenience stores all very close by. 15 mins to Hatteras, 40 mins to Nags Head. Connie is a wonderful host, clear instructions, very helpful and gracious. I highly recommend, we stayed for our annual family vacay, everyone loved it, house so nice. Connie is a star! We can't say enough good things about her home, just go and see for yourself!

This is a lovely home in a great location. There is a beach access a few driveways down, restaurants and shops with in walking distance, and is on what felt like a safe quiet street. The house was just as described. Contrary to some other reviews, we found soft blankets available in every bedroom, fans in the closets, and a hair drier in the downstairs bathroom. We LOVED this sweet house and would definitely recommend.

Ross was friendly and easy to communicate with for our last minute stay. The house is clean and large enough for a big group. There is only one queen size bed and the rest are twin and full size bunk beds which is unique but worked fine for us. The location is convenient and easy to find. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, could use some newer pans but that's the case with most rentals. We didn't use the hot tub & pool much but they were clean and ready to go.

definitely worth the stay. walking distance to anything you need. the beach is right off the driveway! excellent fishing spot as well! (caught a 27" red drum in the surf as well as a whiting and a flounder) the house in itself is well set up to accomodate the family and all of its needs. we had a party of 9 myself my significant other and 7 children ages 20 - 7 . everyone was comfortable and had a blast! will definitely book again!

Cindy was very responsive and they have a wonderful place! The entire family from 2-65 yrs old enjoyed everything!

We really enjoyed our stay! The house had everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation, lots of space, a peaceful location, and fun extras like the hot tub, hammock, fishing dock, and outdoor shower (super convenient after beach days). We especially loved the screened-in porch with an outdoor table overlooking the water and dock perfect for meals or just relaxing. It was clean and comfortable with beautiful views. A short drive to the beach, but worth it for the privacy. Loved having access to kayaks ro explore. Would definitely stay again!

My family of four had a wonderful long weekend at Grace’s beach home. We loved the short walk to the beach and early evenings in the hot tub. Good food places nearby. We will certainly keep the beach house in mind for our next OBX trip.

Chase’s place is a perfect get away for 2-4 people. It’s soooo close to the beach, just a 3 min walk over the dune. It was quiet and private and had great outdoor space including chairs on the upper deck and picnic table below to toss all the beach stuff when returning from the beach. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning and wi fi were strong! We were able to walk for coffee at Muffins and Scones and wine & beer at Cork and Bottle, both of which were fantastic! So refreshing to find an air bnb with all the furnishings in an area dominated by rental companies that require you to bring or rent your own linens. Thanks Chase!

When folks say this place is right on the water, they’re not kidding - the water comes right up to a small dune in front of the house. It’s pretty amazing. Lots of room to hang out and enjoy family time while taking in beautiful views - even if it rains, you’re gazing out over the ocean and the sound. Hot tub was awesome - right at eye level with the dunes and the ocean. Sunrises and sunsets are amazing. Lots of deck space on both sides. Seaside was a great host and proactive, giving us a heads up that high winds and rain were coming in so we came down in our jeep instead of a car. They checked on us several times, both by phone and in person. We had a great time!

Had a fantastic experience on the Outer Banks in Frisco. The house was beautiful, right on the beach - and with a hot tub on one of the decks. Highly recommend VacasaNC!

This place was amazing! Spacious, comfortable beds, beautiful location, grocery store, shops and restaurants nearby. The layout of the house was perfect for my adult children and their families to have privacy but allowed us to spend quality time together. There are plenty of games and puzzles for all age groups. Definitely want to go back next year!

Great location, perfect walk to the beach, almost like oceanfront. Great hang out space and kitchen. Lots of extra blankets, fan for the white noise people. Great outdoor shower and basketball hoop. Walk to the beach was quick and not too challenging. Clean pool and hot tub!!! Would definitely come back!!!

I hate to gush about Margot's home, I need to make sure it stays available when we return! When I say the pictures dont do this place juatice, I'm not exaggerating. The entire upstairs is just one LARGE open space. Kitchen with everything you could possibly need. An amazing reading nook with a view of the ocean. Two porches to see the ocean from and a porch to see the sound off the back! And the master bedroom has an amazing screened in porch that's oceanview. I love that the steps go directly to the enclosed dog lot so you can let your guys out safely. The super quick walk across the road and over the dune couldn't have been easier for the best beach access and the neighborhood is so very private and quiet. I cannot say enough about the communication with Margot being so quick and positive and she has the best housekeeper on the island for sure.

Great week stay!! Had some issues with the internet not working when we first arrived but Amanda was very responsive and called Spectrum to get it fixed the next day for us. Listing was as described. Lots of bugs and flies outside but to be expected since it was in the listing. Saw a few bears in the area and wildlife! Nice and secluded - about a 25 min drive into Nags head, not bad. Was able to utilize the grill which was nice to have a cookout with the family! Overall nice stay for the price and had a great vacay with the family

Great place tucked away and loved the dock to take my kayak out. Christo even generously allowed us to use their kayak and paddleboards. Nice little canal to paddle around. The house was perfect for our Moms trip. 8 ladies and all were happy with the house so that says a lot! Well equipped, clean, comfortable. Loved that we had a pool. We were only there 1 full day so didn't get a chance to use it. Also the outdoor shower was great to help keep sand out. Super close to Avon Pier and several restaurants. I would recommend Christo's home to anyone!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For a family of 3 (including a 19 month old), this was the perfect vacation spot. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and swinging, having lunch outside, and our son was a big fan of the beach. There was ample space for us to spread out and the washer and dryer was a plus so we weren’t taking home as much laundry to do. The neighborhood is very walkable and there are great views both in the backyard and around the neighborhood. A nice quiet retreat. We did ask beforehand if there was a baby gate or high chair and got a response within an hour so we knew to pack those items. Very relaxing and a much needed break from the hustle of other more “touristy” beach spots. We will be back.

Great location! Very peaceful on the sound side of Hatteras. Wildlife was wonderful! Very comfortable and back deck was relaxing!

This home was a beautiful setting for our Mother’s 70th Birthday getaway. The view was phenomenal and the home was clean. The space was perfect for our large group where we could congregate together in the large living spaces but had plenty of bedrooms so that we could all have our own room to relax. The one callout and disappointment was that check in was not until 5pm, which is the latest I have ever seen with an Airbnb. We drove 9 hours to get there and was hoping to check in just a little earlier, but the property management could not accommodate my request, so we were stuck killing time for 3 hours.

A+. This is an absolutely PERFECT spot in Hatteras. Easy to find, extremely close to the beach with easy access, and just a dream of a beach house. These pictures actually don't do the house justice - it is ENORMOUS! The main floor is beautifully setup to be wide open, you could fit 7+ people in the kitchen at one time, the sitting area both upstairs and downstairs can accommodate many comfortably, decks all around are perfect, HUGE backyard for yard games and a picnic table for eating outside, great hot tub, and a cool elevated deck portion to look out over the roof in the back. TVs in every room, massive dining table fit our group easily (could probably fit 10+), linens and everything provided, big driveway. And the icing on the cake - Dennis the owner was communicative, helpful, and very friendly. It is clear this pad is their pride and joy and it has all the goofy beach decor you would expect in a proper beach house. Literally couldn't dream up a bad thing to say - PERFECT TRIP!

Superb location for a peaceful end of year holiday vacation. Two level property with far reaching views from the upper level living room. Large open space with ample windows to see the sound. Beautiful sunsets from the windows and the deck facing the sound. Privacy assured from property next door due to design of deck overlooking the sound. Close to beaches for fishing and walking. Dog friendly (bring dog gates as there are no gates on entry steps outside property - all are open - we used two of our own dog gates on two levels to ensure dogs were contained and safe). Lighting in access area is not working. Noticed another review had said the same so maybe replace the bulb as it is a dark entrance area for accessing key code to enter property. Very clean interior. Robust furniture. Mattresses are very firm! Clean linen. Well stocked good sized open plan kitchen. (Food lion is nearest grocery store.) Highly recommend and would personally return again to this vacation property.

A great home to stay in on the ocean front. Have been renting for many years in OBX this was a great value and location. We had some trouble with door code , I was able to get new working code within 15 minutes at 230am. That is customer service at its best!

What a great place and location! Had everything we needed and more! Wish we could stay longer. Place was very clean, and our family enjoyed the place. I loved sitting on the deck with my coffee watching the sunrise. The view of the ocean is so beautiful!

This place was awesome, and just as described. The location is sublime! As close to the beach as you can get. We loved the large deck facing the ocean. Comfortable beds and furniture and well-equipped kitchen with new pots and pans and knives. Very bright and cheery. Great stay all the way around!
