Vacation rentals with outdoor seating in Great Barrier Island

Very cozy and well appointed. View was spectacular and the local bunnies and birds were fun to watch. A 4x4 vehicle is a must to access the house, and the driveway is not for the faint of heart! But well worth it for the privacy, beauty and comfort of the stay! Would definitely return!,

A beautiful spot on a beautiful island. Although I explored the island and did a bunch of activities, I also just sat around for hours to enjoy the view and watch the stars. Hilde is a wonderful host and gave me many recommendations, and saved me by lending me a cap for my hikes in the sun.

Quite comfortable & glad of all the blankets as it got chilly at night, Unique and special setting close to the beach. We had a romantic time!

As a group of 8 people we had a great time during summer here. The hosts were of great help when we had some “parking issues” with our trailer - they organized someone to pull us out of a ditch ;-) and that truly saved our vacation. That was amazing. Whatever was missing was quickly organized. Unfortunately an all-year fire ban on GBI meant we were not allowed to use the outdoor fire place, and since the nights get cold quickly we were looking forward to sitting in front of the outdoor fireplace in the evenings, which obviously did not happen. Also, the utility of the massive balcony is close to nil - it was either burning hot or freezing cold out there. In that regard, if you look at this place, consider that what you get is somewhat less than what you might expect from the pictures alone. Despite these drawbacks we would love to come back any time.

We absolutely loved this beautiful historic home and immediately felt relaxed and comfortable. The staff were extremely discreet but available if sought out. We were impressed with the access to chickens and consequent fresh eggs, and small vegetable garden. On arrival the home had every set of French doors thrown open. It was airy inviting and thoroughly enjoyed throughout our stay. The Fitzroy Port area is a little remote from the busier Southern part of the Island but with a rental vehicle this was not a problem,. and there are a number of walks available within the area to not require a vehicle should one use not to hire one. Food is expensive on Great Barrier and it is recommended to stock up and take supplies in a chilli bin with you. There is a store on the Fitzroy wharf which is well stocked however, should you run out of your supplies. The property also has a jetty of its own and can be booked and used to moor your boat should you arrive by sea.

Nicole’s place is a fabulous wee spot. We loved the visits by native birds and the wonderful vista from the deck. And the peaceful atmosphere. We would happily go back.

This was our second stay at Leon's Bach and we loved it just as much. Elizabeth is an excellent host friendly and communicative, the bach is simple and perfect- love the private outdoor shower option for sandy times! We even bought honey from their farm and it is delicious. Would defs come back 10/10.

Beautiful stay with well equipped house right on the beach. Would highly recommend for a peaceful offgrid stay right next to beautiful Medlands Beach.
