The Cedar Retreat

Gisborne has some of the best beaches you will find in NZ and if summer is true to form the temperature can hit 30 degrees plus,if fishing is your hobby there are miles of beaches to do a bit of surfcasting to catch a feed,you also have the famous HWY 35 to explore at your leisure. If surfing is your buzz you will be spoilt for choice. Gisbornes horticulture scene is booming with many wineries to visit and taste some of our Chardonnay classics making us the Chardonnay capital of NZ.

Magnolia Cottage

Enjoy the quiet country feel, close to town. Listen to and watch all the native birds, swim in the pool, take a walk in our lovely area, or simply relax in the spacious cottage with a drink. Inside, go up the spiral stairs to the cozy mezzanine bedroom (please note that it's low up there). The unique stairs are from the old star observatory on Titirangi (the local maunga/mountain)! The sofa bed in the lounge can sleep 2. There is a new kitchenette, shower, vanity and toilet.

A short 5 min walk to the famous Stock route beach break at Wainui Beach, you'll also pass Zepher store on the way perfect for coffee and takeaways. There is plenty of room to roam around if you have kids and also a trampoline and tree house. The chalet is also set behind The Boardroom surf shop where LOST surfboards are produced.

Had a great stay though the weather was not on our side. The house is lovely. Beds were very comfortable and fab having the pool option on the days that the wind made the beach wild and rough. The location was amazing as well and walks on beach which is across the road were fantastic.

We had a great time at this place. Kids absolutely loved the pool. The view of the green hills and farm animals just behind the backyard create a feeling of peace and tranquility, that we really needed. All shops and cafes are just 10 min driveaway. Natalie responded to communications promptly. The house was equipped with everything needed. Thank you Natalie.

Naurea Homestead, Gisborne 14 Guests

We had a fantastic stay at Katy’s homestead. A 15 min drive from Gisborne and a few mins drive from the nearest vineyard. You need a car to to Gisborne justice so being a bit out of town is no issue. Key things we liked were: - Friendly and helpful hospitality with tips on things to do - The pool - Waking up to amazing countryside views - The endless supply of fresh fruit from the multiple trees on the property - The beautiful house and room which is modern yet keeps with the character of the homestead. Staying at the homestead allowed is our relaxing and peaceful holiday away that we were wanting. Would definitely return.

Our team had the pleasure of returning to Hinemoa’s Airbnb while in Gisborne for work, and once again, it was an outstanding experience! As returning guests, we knew we’d be well looked after, and Hinemoa went above and beyond to make sure our stay was seamless. The space was clean, comfortable, and perfectly suited to our group’s needs. Her hospitality is truly exceptional—warm, attentive, and always accommodating. When our flight home was unexpectedly delayed, she was incredibly understanding about our late checkout, making a stressful situation so much easier for us. The location was ideal for our work commitments, and we’ll definitely be back next time business brings us to Gisborne. Highly recommend! Thanks, Issey
