Forcalquier is a small town of 5,000 inhabitants located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence halfway (1 hour drive) from the Gorges du Verdon and the Luberon. Forcalquier has a very lively city center with all the local shops, a movie theater and many restaurants. The Forcalquier market (Monday morning) is one of the largest in the region. At the end of March, you can see the multicolored tulip plantations, and at the beginning of July, the surrounding fields are covered with lavender blossoms.
