A moins de 15 mn (en voiture) se trouve les lagons et de toutes activités, plongée, parapente, golf, musée. Pour les randonnées, c'est un bon point de départ en direction du Maïdo, de Mafate, des bassins de la ravine Saint Gilles... La voie rapide des Tamarins est à 5 minutes, pour partir vers Cilaos, Salazie ou le volcan.
