We had an amazing stay! The hosts were very helpful and flexible with our check in and check out. The house was perfect for multiple families staying together. Very clean with beautiful coastal decor. We also did a boat tour with Tyman Charters which I highly recommend. We spent an awesome day on the water and Captain Tyman did an outstanding job taking care of us and serving us delicious lunch. Thank you for your kindness April and Tyman! We hope to be back soon!

Desert Rose- Beautiful beachfront house, Eleuthera

AlexandreRating, 5 stars5 months ago
The place is more than beautiful. The property is located on a beachfront lot. The beach itself is really serene, we’ve seen only 3 people on it over the 4 days we’be passed there…. And it was Christmas… The villa is spacious for our party of two and could ideally accomodate a family. You’ll have every accessories you need to spend 2-3 weeks vacation there. We wish we’d book for longer but decided to visit a couple of Bahamian islands on our 10 day visit. There are lots of good restaurants nearby but a car is really a must if you want to reabh them easily. We liked afternoon munches at Potlatch Club, dinners at Bougainvillea and, of course, relax snacks at Tippy’s. Barbara is a great host and did everything she could to accomodate our (belated by the airline company) arrival and departure. Her manager, Winifred, is also really pleasant to deal with and efficent. I definetly would go again and recommend the place.
A charming cottage is set against a clear blue sky, featuring a white roof and yellow exterior. Large glass doors provide ample light, and landscaped greenery surrounds the home, enhancing its serene setting.

Secluded, charming 1 bdrm beachfront cottage

RandyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was our 8th trip to Eleuthera together so we were very familiar with this particular area. We were very happy there with the house and each other. The exterior photos of the house were sub-par on-line. But I was amazed to see how mold and algae free all of the exterior surfaces were. This house has been well taken care of inside and out. The effort that has been put into the landscaping was obvious and much appreciated.

Quiet Beach Retreat. Nestled in tropical garden.

BonnieRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Lucia's apartment is lovely and Lucia is a welcoming host; I immediately felt at home. Lucia was always very quick to respond to any texts/questions. The apartment is clean, comfortable, airy and bright; just as pictured on the listing. The beds are comfortable; A/C, WiFi & Roku based TV in the bedroom all worked well. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. Lucia thoughtfully provides a few breakfast items for arrival. There is a filtered water cooler and a Nespresso machine & pods. I spent a lot of time reading and relaxing on the large upstairs porch which overlooks the lovely garden through bougainvillea & coconut palms. It was so serene; like sitting in a tree house! There are a few shy resident cats and the lovely and friendly Bella, who I miss! The beautiful, calm turquoise waters of the 2 mile long beach are just a block away. Restaurants & the grocery store are within easy walking or biking distance with provided bicycles. Highly recommended!
This colonial-style cottage features a light pink exterior complemented by a welcoming porch. Lush greenery surrounds the home, and a set of stairs leads to the front entrance. The structure is elevated, providing a sense of openness in the natural landscape.

"Getaway", Current Settlement, North Eleuthera

JeffRating, 5 stars6 months ago
We loved our stay at "The Getaway". It was very private and very clean. The house itself is remarkable. As many have said the pictures do not do it justice!! Other things worth mentioning are; the settlement of Current is extremely friendly welcoming; the property manager Karen and the facilities support Pedro were excellent and incredibly responsive; we hired a private boat, Captain James from Lower Boque, to take us sprear fishing and snorkeling, was awesome. So much more we could add. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Thanks for your place Tim! Rgds, Jeff & Anne

La Concha Beach House

MarianaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Our stay at La Concha was incredible, we had such a great time that we barely left to explore other parts of the island! It's right on a beautiful secluded beach that we mostly had to ourselves, the view from the living room and master bedroom is so breathtaking it felt like a dream. The house was really clean and very well decorated (even better than the pictures) and super functional from all the amenities to high-speed wifi. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook and bake, and I love the attention to details like the insulated cups and can holders that we could take to the beach. We also really enjoyed the standup paddles and floaties which we were able to use everything given how calm and warm the water was. The house is only a short 10min drive from Governor's Harbour where you can find restaurants and grocery stores. Lastly, the host, Krista, was very responsive and answered all our questions. I couldn't recommend this place enough and can't wait to go back!

Hibiscus Beach House

Doug And AmandaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We were blessed to go on this trip for my mom's 70th birthday and it did not disappoint! Jim & Mary were both incredibly helpful, communicative, and friendly and they have local support in the area to help you navigate your first day or so if needed. It is important to know that this location is not a tourist destination and you need to be ok driving, cooking, and enjoying their beautiful home and beach front property. The home is fully stocked with what you need to enjoy the water (paddleboards!) and to cook, sleep, and soak up the sunshine. The outdoor shower was a spa experience as you look out at the amazing lush yard. We highly recommend this unique, super-special stay in Eleuthera!

We had a great time at this place. It was for my wife and I and our 5 year old daughter. The interior of the apartment was spacious and clean. Everything worked well, apart from the WiFi which had good and not so good periods, but that did not detract from enjoying the location which was great for exploring all of Eleuthera in our hire car

"Paradise is not an Illusion"

MarkRating, 5 stars2 months ago
This property is pure magic!!!! The photos don't do it justice. It's main feature is the incredible bluff with a wide vista of the ocean along with the incredible intimate lagoon where we snorkeled whenever we could. The array of fish and sea life in the lagoon was staggering. In one day we counted over 12 fish species and two different sea turtle species. Every day there was at least 5 to 6 different fish species. It was completely private. The rest of the island was also magical with incredible beaches and other snorkeling locations but our biggest struggle was deciding whether to just stay at the house and lagoon or go out exploring. Having the car to rent right there was a big plus. Both Scott and the caretaker was highly responsive and when we did have a couple issues they were resolved quickly. The house itself is comfortable and clean with a nice tropical vibe. We HIGHLY recommend this property. It is everything it promises and more.

We stayed a week. Check in was easy and precise, Walter is a friendly person who gave us lots of advice on the beaches and how to get around in general. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. We perceived and experienced the authenticity of the place and the friendliness of the local people. Also 2 minutes walk from the beautiful beach of Tarpum Bay, we saw beautiful sunsets. It was a beautiful week. I recommend it and we will return.

We had a great week back at Spanish Wells! The house is very comfortable and has a nice large kitchen and dining table. We didn’t use our buggy quite as much this trip as this house was very centrally located and a quick walk to Food Fare, the beach, etc. Air Conditioning worked well and couches and beds were comfortable. Thank you, we will be back!

My wife, 2 teenaged children and I had a wonderful time at Pedro and Karen’s place. With its own private beach, it was peaceful and beautiful. The home was very comfortable and perfectly equipped. It was our first time in the Bahamas, and the village of Current provided an excellent glimpse of the evolving island culture. Current Beach is spectacular. We enjoyed driving to other local sights as well and exploring.

Oceanfront Cottage Near Restaurant, Stores

LeslieRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We really enjoyed our stay in Rock Sound Eleuthera. This was not our first trip to the island, but was the first time we stayed in Rock Sound. Ordinarily we stay further North but we wanted to explore Southern Eleuthera and the Cape. The home shares a parking lot with a restaurant we’ve enjoyed in the past, which we were looking forward to eating at again, but unfortunately it’s no longer in business. However, the grocery store is within walking distance and there are a couple of good restaurants and shops a little south of the home. The home itself was very clean and nicely decorated. The bedrooms were nearly identical so there was no fighting over who got the better room. With the exception of pantry items, and food storage, the house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. They even provided beach chairs which we used every day! The best thing about the house was the sunsets. We enjoyed watching the sun set every evening on the wraparound deck. We would stay here again!

Yellow Tail cottage with FREE Golf Cart

PatrickRating, 5 stars2 months ago
A cute home on the harbor facing the water. We enjoyed watching the sunrise and the bustle of the harbor from the porch in the morning (it wasn't too busy, though, and our kids easily slept through it all). The included golf cart was great and made for easy access to all Spanish Wells and Russell Island had to offer.

Turtle Shell Cottage/New/Beach Accessible/Peaceful

HubertRating, 5 stars9 months ago
What an incredible experience at Turtle Shell Cottage! The house is beautiful, cozy, and well-equipped. One of the highlights was the included golf cart, which made it easy to explore the island. The grounds were impeccably maintained, adding to the sense of tranquility and relaxation. The beachfront, just down the path, less than 100 yards, was spectacular—crystal-clear water and white sand. Every morning, the beach was cleaned and raked, and umbrellas were set up at the picnic tables. Adirondack chairs and lounging chaises were available, making our beach days even more comfortable! Kayaks were available as well!! It's the perfect place to unplug and completely unwind. We highly recommend Turtle Shell Cottage and are already looking forward to returning.

Casa Libre at Rainbow Bay, Eleuthera, Bahamas

RachelRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Casa Libre was a great spot for us as we explored the island. We love listening to the ocean. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked. Ed and Dan made us feel right at home. I loved having a washer and dryer and it was in a very quiet neighborhood. We explored lighthouse beach, Spanish wells, harbor island, and Gaulding’s cay. The Cove’s Freedom restaurant was our favorite meal. Definitely worth it!

Your guide to Eleuthera

Welcome to Eleuthera

Eleuthera is all about the beach vibes. Yes, there are a few glitzy enclaves on this impossibly skinny island, but for the most part it remains a low-key place where the feeling of escape is still possible. This narrow ribbon of land in the Bahamas is traversed by just a single highway, which meanders past green hills, pineapple farms, and secluded coves. Its most remarkable feature is its wide pink-sand beaches, whose fantastical color is thanks to ground-up coral. Those reefs are a major draw for snorkelers and divers hoping to catch a glimpse of the abundant sea life, which includes rays and sharks. Mysterious shipwrecks also tempt the underwater explorer crowd.

There are calm beaches suited for a leisurely paddle here, as well as those celebrated for their surf breaks. Rock outcroppings along the shoreline form natural pools that fill with ocean water that warms in the sun, creating temporary and soothing baths. If it’s possible to overachieve at relaxing, this might be the place to do it.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Eleuthera

The Bahamas enjoy idyllic tropical weather just about all year round. Even cooler winter days still make for decent beach weather. During the rainy season, thunderstorms roll though the island, especially in May and June. Make sure to monitor the weather forecast during hurricane season, which stretches from June to November. Starting on Christmas Day and continuing through early February, the island throws festive parties known as Junkanoo, which involve brightly colored costumes, parades, and whimsical masks. In June the island celebrates the pineapple harvest with Pineapple Fest, which features pineapple-themed cuisine and a pineapple-eating contest.

Top things to do in Eleuthera

Leon Levy Native Plant Reserve

Sprawling more than 30 acres, this national park showcases the myriad flora of the island. More than 400 native species grow here, grouped in categories including medicinal, poisonous, and edible. There’s a mangrove forest and a waterfall here too, all navigable by a series of winding trails.

Glass Window Bridge

This remarkable natural phenomenon is so bold and startling, it seems like a trick of the eye. The dark blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the topaz waters of the Bight of Eleuthera (not the Caribbean Sea, as many assume) meet here, separated by only a 30-foot-wide ribbon of land. The result is a visual wonder that trumps any movie special effects.

Ocean’s Hole

There are beautiful beaches galore here, but peel yourself away from the shore to explore this unique place. This circular blue hole — a deep underwater cavern or sinkhole — is surrounded by trees and teeming with fish, and was once explored by oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. You won’t get the same vantage point as that famed adventurer, but you can still splash around in waters believed by some to have healing properties.
