Craigiehall Temple (historic property built 1759)

Make you trip to Edinburgh truly memorable with a stay at Craigiehall Temple. Built in 1759 and situated in its own grounds on a former part of the Craigiehall Estate, it's Grade A listed for its stunning portico displaying the arms of the 1st Marquess of Annandale. A plaque on the wall carries a quote from Horace: "Dum Iicet in rebus jucundis vive beatus", "Live happy while you can among joyful things". Set in 3 acres of gardens and with beautiful views of the valley, Shiel House is the perfect retreat. This bespoke house was built by our family to provide an escape from the city and it has been furnished to provide a comfortable home from home. It would suit solo adventurers, couples, families (including with kids), and groups. Centrally located, and only an hour's drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and St Andrews, it is the ideal base for golfers, walkers and visitors to Scotland.

'Silverknowes Suite' is a small, newly renovated, light and airy ground floor studio with own front door, kitchenette and ensuite. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, within 5 minutes walk to bus routes to the city centre and 10 minutes to the airport bus stop. By car, the city can be reached in 15 minutes. There are beautiful nearby walks down to the Forth River front and beach. The suite is attached to our family home but the connecting door will be kept locked ensuring your privacy.

The Historic Dalkeith Water Tower

The water tower is a bespoke home in an historic building sensitively converted by its architect owner. The tower is located in the historic town of Dalkeith and the settlement of Eskbank. 20 minutes by car from Edinburgh airport. A bus service into Edinburgh stops every 10- 15 minutes, the bus stop is a 2 minute walk away. 25 minutes by rail to the Scottish Borders or to the centre of Edinburgh from the local Eskbank Train Station, a 20 minute walk from the tower.

The Great Hall, Dollarbeg Castle

This 2 bedroom apartment is the beautifully converted former Great Hall of Dollarbeg Castle. Built in 1890, Dollarbeg Castle was the last gothic baronial style building of its type ever built. Beautifully restored in 2007 to the very highest standards, it was converted into 10 luxury properties, one of which is a conversion of the original "Great Hall" with its vaulted ceiling and majestic views across the formal grounds towards the Ochil Hills in the distance.

There is a comfy double bed and a beautiful en-suite, secluded from the main house; with a small peaceful garden area and a private entrance. Based in the quiet suburb of Blackhall, we are only a couple of miles from the city centre - with dozens of express buses on a few minutes walk from the house; whilst at the same time ideally situated for journeys to and from the airport.
