The Smiddy, Reay, self catering, NC500

The Smiddy was in a great location for exploring the North Coast of Scotland. It had all you need for a comfortable, self catering stay such as ours. The heating was particularly good and responsive for those chilly evenings and mornings. Main rd is nearby - we hardly noticed any noise as it is not busy, but meant we could soon get to other places along the coast. The later than usual check-out time was a bonus too with less rush to get packed up! We would definitiely recommend / use again.

We had a lovely stay at Deborah’s cottage near Melvich Beach! The location is perfect—peaceful and just a short walk to the beach, which made it an ideal coastal getaway. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and really comfortable—clearly looked after with care. Deborah was a warm and welcoming host, very friendly and easy to communicate with. You can tell she genuinely wants her guests to feel at home. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet, scenic escape in the Highlands. We'd definitely stay again!

A rugged coastline is depicted, featuring towering cliffs that rise sharply from the calm sea. The water reflects the soft light of early morning, while patches of greenery adorn the cliff edges. A rocky shore and distant formations are visible under a partly cloudy sky.

A beautifully comfortable bungalow, with high standards throughout. Superb beds: showers and bathrooms beautifully set out with copious amounts of hot water. Kitchen facilities excellent. The open views across countryside to the Pentland Firth from the lounge in evening sunshine particularly memorable. This was also a great jumping off point for visits to the Castle of Mey( really interesting visit) lighthouses at Dunnet Head and Duncansby Head, learning about unknown WW2 history of the area at Castlehill Heritage Centre, lovely cliff walks to see puffins, guillemots, arctic skuas hassling and being hassled -and only 10 mins from Pentland Ferries route to Orkney. Elizabeth was a warm and friendly host, providing a good welcome pack and an unobtrusive background support. Also gave us some interesting detail about the area. Altogether a splendid stay. Highly recommended. Jim, Jan,Mick and Judy

This property is located in the most beautiful and peaceful spot. The house itself is quite large and very nicely put together. The host Bronagh was so nice and helpful. Our group of 6 loved staying here.

Kirkton farm caravan. Beach 1 mile from the farm

PawelRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a wonderful time at Juanella and Willie's farm. They are very friendly hosts, we felt like home straight away. We loved to be greeted every morning by 7 friendly Border collies (we are going to miss them very much). If you have a chance go for farm buggy tour with Willie, to meet farm animals (lovely Highland cows) and learn about history of the farm and area. There is a lot to do and see in this part of the Highlands. Strongly recommend 👌
