Farmers Friend - Family Escape + Animal Encounters

This is the best weekend getaway near Chicago! You get to support a great nonprofit regenerative agriculture farm while having a relaxing weekend in a beautiful place. Book now! We arrived on a Friday evening and were greeted by our friendly hosts who showed us around our Airbnb. Then, we prepared ourselves dinner in the large kitchen and ate it at a spacious dining table. On Saturday morning, we got to snuggle baby goats for 2 hours. A baby goat fell asleep in my lap! Then, on Saturday evening we got a tour of the regenerative agriculture farm from the executive director of Hungry World Farm. The tour was informative and thoughtful. We also got to watch many baby lambs frolic. Finally, we made a fire in one of the fire pits and made s'mores on Saturday night. We left on Sunday refreshed and grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time in this beautiful place. We're planning to come back next spring to meet the next generation of baby goats, lambs, and calves.

The entryway features warm wooden flooring and a ceiling fan, with a staircase leading to the upper level. A wooden dresser and large glass doors provide natural light and access to the outdoor area. Decor in soft hues complements the welcoming atmosphere.

Angela, thank you for sharing your splendid home! It was so spacious, well-appointed, spotlessly clean, and delightfully relaxing. The house comfortably accommodated our extended family group of eight adults. We cooked our meals in the large kitchen, and grilled outside one evening. We brought our bicycles, and enjoyed biking together along the nearby Hennepin Canal. We had a fabulous time, made beautiful memories, and all agreed we would love to return.

A hot tub is positioned on a wooden deck, overlooking lush greenery and a serene body of water. Bubbles rise from the water, creating a soothing visual effect. The surrounding wooden railing enhances the sense of seclusion and connection to nature.

I booked the house for 6 adults and we were very satisfied with our stay. The house was nice and comfortable for all of us. The kitchen/living room were fantastic and offered a great place for us all to hang out. The house and surroundings were relaxing and we enjoyed the hot tub and the fishing dock. We saw a lot of wildlife and enjoyed a nice walks around the lake. Olena was nice and responsive and we'd rent from her again.

25 Mi to Starved Rock State Park - DePue Retreat

This place was so much fun! Busy and quirky but in a fun way. I had never seen anything like some of the decor and it was really interesting and cool to look at. Big fenced in backyard for our dog. We used this as a home base for Starved Rock State Park and Matthiesen State Park. Only 30 min from those places and 30 min from Ottawa (cool down town). I would definitely do it again.
