“Sheri’s place is charming, scenic and peaceful! The set up is very accommodating and welcoming! Bed was very comfortable and everything was perfectly clean. We stayed there as a nightly stop over during our trip to relocate across the country. Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Also got to meet her cute dogs :) Our 2 puppies had a blast as well.”
This three-story yurt is an architectural wonder, featuring bamboo floors, heat and a/c and all other modern amenities! Situated on 3 private acres at the top of an end-state-maintence road, with streams and hiking paths, the property exemplifies the beauty and diversity of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A huge fenced dog pen, and heated dog house make it possible to travel in style with your canine friends! A zip-line through the trees adds to the charm. Cool, comfortable, and full of character!
“The pictures don't do this 3 story Yurt justice. It's incredible. Yes the location far away from town so be prepared if you need anything to make a trek. But if you can plan ahead and bring your food to prepare at the Yurt you don't need to leave. Hiking trails, creeks, a pond, zip line, dog run, and relaxing patio are the great outdoor activities that can be found on the property. I would suggest making a quick(20-25 min.) country road drive to the town of Floyd. Stop by Outerspace for BBQ from Bootleg BBQ and then walk around. My daughters found the country store which has incredible milkshakes. The 3 story Yurt had more than enough room for my family of 5 and our 2 dogs. Erika was very repsonsive to any questions we had. Don't forget to stop by and see the production of how the Yurts are made right down the road. Do yourself a favor and spend a relaxing week or weekend away at this location.”
"Raspberry House" is truly one of Old Southwest's architectural treasures in the Queen Anne style. It includes an expansive front porch with classic columns and unlike many houses in the neighborhood, has always been a single-family home, thereby retaining the original flavor. In the Spring the yard comes alive with songbirds and a colorful array of flowers. Unfortunately, because Amtrak is often very late arriving in Roanoke, we do not accept reservations from Amtrak passengers.
“This is an upstairs room and private bathroom in a darling little house—the hosts live on the first floor. I appreciated the tea kettle and mini fridge, and the location is excellent —very close to many roanoke attractions. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and prompt in their responses. I will probably stay here again next time I need to stay in Roanoke.”
