This is a renovated Kyomachi house near Gojo-zaka. A 100-year-old Kyomachi house has been transformed into a guest house where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days. It is a luxurious natural material renovation that uses diatomaceous earth with deodorizing and humidity regulating effects, and unpolluted materials such as hinoki cypress and cedar, with attention to detail in the finish. The whole ceiling is covered with cypress, and the pillars, frames, and baseboards are also made of cypress, creating a space filled with the comfort of real natural materials and the scent of cypress. It is located in the Kiyomizu-dera Temple area, about 6 minutes on foot from Exit 4 of Kiyomizu-Gojō Station on the Keihan Line, near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, one of Kyoto's most famous tourist destinations. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
