Living Rock Campsite #1

Our campsite is located on the hill behind Terlingua Ghost Town, 1/2 mile from Restaurants and shopping. Campfires are allowed. We have a composting toilet on the campground and an outdoor shower available. The view from your campsite is a 360 degree panoramic view of the Big Bend region complete with a sunrise over the Chisos and a sunset in the Chihuahuan desert of Mexico. The road to the campsite is unpaved. Take it slowly, any car will make it. One tent per site, please. Tent not included.

Off Grid Earth Bag Home

Welcome to my earth bag home located 25 minutes outside of the entrance to Big Bend National Park. The house sits on 100 acres with 360 degree views of mountains, mesas, pinnacles, spires, and buttes. There are walking trails throughout the property. Good luck finding another home with a as much love put into it! If the Earthbag home is booked I have a home called “Rammed Earth” over the hill that is a work of art. For some reason with online algorithms this home is not showing up as often.

Bus Jack - Primitive Campsite on Terlingua Ranch

This land art installation on Terlingua Ranch in the Chihuahuan Desert is made of 9 vintage Volkswagon campers and vans arranged in a henge. This is NOT in Terlingua Ghost Town. It is about an hour from there. It is available for primitive camping. "Bus Jack" is visible on satellite images of the earth. There is no bathroom or water available at the site. There is limited cell phone coverage. Up to 50 primitive campers are allowed. You must take all trash with you when you leave.

We had a great stay! The house is big, spacious, and located in a nice and quiet area—perfect for relaxing. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for cooking, which made meals super easy. We also really appreciated the board games available for the kids—it was a thoughtful touch! The terrace was lovely to sit on, and having a petrol station and small store in Lajitas just minutes away was very convenient. The host was super responsive and friendly, which made everything smooth from start to finish. It’s a perfect place for families, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

35 minutes to the entrance of Big Bend National Park. A campsite has a picnic table and a few others have shades. Private and you can feel you are free from busy city. I could use Verizon and you can use mobile phone if needed. Sunset was not good and you may want to go to other places with good view.

We visited Ron and Lisa at the end of January 2023. They have a wonderful little camping club way out in the desert! Sign was well lit and obvious while driving at night. Beautiful landscape, with lots to explore. Quiet as can be. They have a small gathering area with 3 top burners for cooking and a propane grill. Community fire ring and a clean portable bathroom. Each site has a table and small covered fire pit also. Trash cans throughout site. He gave us the best brochure for an audio+map app that guides you through the National park, which tells you all about each significant part of the park, as well as names of mountains, plants and elevations. It was game changing for us!! Loved everything and will be back!! Thank y’all so much!!

The camping grounds are just outside of downtown on the hill overlooking the sunset in the evenings. At night it can get extremely windy. The bathrooms are very tidy and convenient. The land is well kept and the host, Marc is very helpful and friendly. I would love to return to this spot again in the future.
