Vacation rentals with a kayak in Bay Of Islands

Stunning location with a spectacular view. House was comfortable and coped very well with our group of 7, however the upstairs bedrooms need to be shared by a family as access to the bathroom was through the other bedroom. Road up to house very tricky and probably better attempted with a 4 wheel drive. We had a great week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Amy's place was even nicer than the pictures! Our family of 5 loved staying in this peaceful beach community surrounded by beautiful views everywhere we turned. Cherrie was great at welcoming us and even connected us with a local kiwi expert that took us out to see kiwis in the wild, a one of a kind experience we will never forget! Our kids loved playing out on the beach and our youngest loved the toys in the kids room downstairs. Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone!

We had a wonderful weekend and created some truly beautiful memories in this stunning home. The fireplace was a lovely touch, especially during the chilly mornings and evenings. The kitchen was modern, stylish and very practical, with a massive island bench that worked perfectly for our group. It made cooking and sharing meals together so easy and enjoyable. The hosts were readily available through the Airbnb app whenever we had questions, and they graciously allowed us a slightly later check-out as we were having such a beautiful weekend. The instructions for using the house facilities and checking out were clear and really helpful. The spa pool was amazing and added an extra layer of relaxation to an already perfect weekend. I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for such a memorable stay.

Anne was incredibly responsive on messages. Made us feel welcome and we had a lovely stay at her Airbnb. The location is incredible, right by the sea. The kayaks and paddle board were a great addition. We were very lucky to have even seen some dolphins while kayaking. Wish we could have stayed longer !

Lovely place to stay. Very well equipped. Great for family group of 3 generations. Great views from all rooms and always something happening on estuary. Pool table, spa , pizza oven and kayaks provided great variety of options. Highly recommend

Felt right at home. Had all the amenities and had the most beautiful view! Heaps of things to do for the kids. Super family friendly as well. Ben and Tereza were wonderful hosts.

We had a wonderful stay at Cooper’s Beach. The views from the deck are incredible and the beautiful beach is just a short walk down the steps. Great BBQ on the deck. The Bach Man, David, offered to provide a high chair for our baby which was much appreciated since we were traveling from the United States. A great find!

Such a beautiful little cottage by the beach — peaceful, charming, and full of character. It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, and you can hear the ocean from the doorstep! The place was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and super cosy, making it feel like a true home away from home. Sally and Kevin are such lovely hosts — warm, helpful, and respectful of your space. Whether you’re after beach walks, quiet mornings with a coffee, or just a break from the hustle, this cottage is the perfect escape. Would definitely come back!

We felt highly welcome. Vanessa answered a question within minutes and helped out. She asked us if we need anything from the supermarket ( is 45 min. away). Well equipped apartment. Silence. Beach nearly just for us. Perfect. 😀

Lovely family home with all that the description and photos promise and much more! A once in a lifetime location. We stayed here for the last days of our NZ trip and really appreciated relaxing and exploring the area and fabulous beaches north and south. A big thank you Carol!

Fantastic views and space for the price! This is perfect for all types of occasions with a group of family or friends. The host was responsive and we were given clear instructions on everything regarding to the house, check in, directions, recycling, etc! Highly recommended!

Jeremy & Andrea were helpful and friendly. We had a fantastic stay! The place was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The location was ideal, just a short walk to the beach, which was perfect for morning and evening walk One of the highlights was definitely the wood-fired pizza oven. It was such a fun we really enjoyed making pizzas and spending the evening outdoors

Our night away was amazing. The location was absolutely stunning, nestled between olive groves, the place was even better than the photos. It had everything we needed and more. Just a short walk to the reserve, where we could take the kayaks across to a peaceful, quiet beach. The house itself was warm, cozy, and beautifully set up. Jo was incredibly accommodating and made everything easy. We’d absolutely come back!

Rodger's Post is an absolute gem. It's simultaneously rustic and modern, very well appointed, extremely private yet accessible, and the hosts are spectacular. Everything you need is there, and it's incredibly clean. The location is rural but there's a pub a short jaunt down the road if you're up for some billiards and a pint or two, and a grocery store up the road in the opposite direction. Within reasonable reach is Ocean Beach for relaxation and surf, Mt Lion and Mt Manaia for some intense hikes and ridiculous views, and even if you're not feeling adventurous simply staying put with the right company is just as awesome. My partner and I will be back, top tier property!

Linda’s place is beautifully organised and very clean. Lovely starry nights there. I didn’t explore the surrounds as I was too busy helping set up for my sons wedding, etc. next time I’m in Rangitane I’ll visit her studio 🩵

Diane’s place was absolutely lovely! The service was above and beyond, the place was nice and cosy. It was super convenient being right off the highway, but so quiet you couldn’t tell. Beautiful fruit trees on the property. The hosts were available and friendly but also gave us our space.

Really enjoyed our stay at Clive’s place. He was a great host with lots of good recommendations. Pataua south is a beautiful location and we hope to be back. Cabin was just what we needed and very tidy. Perfect spot for a dog and the beach is only 10m outside of your own private gate!

Amazing secluded location right on the river. We loved the remote get away and the property was truly spectacular. Even though we stayed during a major storm we couldn't have had a better time on the property and exploring the gardens. Only 20 minutes from town it was still easy to access groceries and restaurants but we felt a world away from city chaos. We would love to visit Magic Cottage again !

Tyson’s Waterfront Bach is located very close to the ferry ramp in Okiato. It has a lovely view across the water towards Opua and is well-appointed, delightful, peaceful and cosy. Access to the water is good, the drive to Russell takes only about ten minutes and there is a lovely, local but at times tricky, walk through native forest. Within minutes of arriving, we were relaxed and enjoying our stay. So it continued for 5 nights. We’d come again. Thank you John

Sean and Becs are outstanding hosts, and the cabin (particularly it's location) exceeded our expectations. We are walking Te Araroa and stopped here for a rest day- so had no vehicle. Sean was more than happy to take us to the shops (5km away) when they were heading that way and dropped us back to the trail when we left. They offered us veges from the garden, helpful advice and were all 'round great hosts and really nice people. The location is amazing and not mentioned much in the listing- the cabin looks out over a grapevines and a sloping lawn to the harbour. It's peaceful and relaxing, and the shower (in a small separate cabin ) is excellent. We didn't use the sauna but it is located right on the waters edge. Highly recommended!

Such an incredibly beautiful and private spot right by the water, with breathtaking views from sunrise to sunset. The Bird Box is also perfectly formed, thoughtfully kitted out with every amenity - it’s absolutely gorgeous inside and out. We feel so very lucky we got to stay here, have a hot cuppa on the deck as the day dawns or after a wonderful day of adventure in around the area - there’s so much to explore. Maxine’s a great host too and made us feel so welcome ❤️ we absolutely loved our stay!

Kevin and John were such lovely hosts! They were kind and thoughtful and friendly .The place itself was cosy and filled with thoughtful amenities. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Beautiful walks around the area and close enough to the town centre. We would love to visit them again sometime :)

We had a fantastic time spending a couple of nights down at the River House. In particular, what stood out was the peaceful setting, the sense of being away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the beautiful country landscape as an idyllic backdrop. If you’re looking to recharge your batteries and reconnect with nature, or if you’re just after a chance getaway for the weekend then I highly recommend this place as an option!
