We renovated a 160-year-old traditional house in 2023. The total site is 700 tsubo (2300 m ²), and the building is 170 m ², making it very spacious. While it is an 8-minute drive to Kumamoto Castle, it is a cottage where you can relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle. The garden is full of trees and flowers, including a large camphor tree that has been there for over 160 years, black pines, Japanese maples, and bamboo forests, so you can enjoy the trees and flowers in all seasons. The host lives in the adjacent building, so you can feel at home. Take a big, deep breath and refresh yourself from the heart. ●Here’s what you need to know · There are many mosquitoes and insects because there is a garden with many trees. The building, which has been around for nearly 120 years, has been a vacant house for nearly 40 years. Once loved by neighborhood children who came to study and play, this building was renovated. Returning to its original form, it was reborn as "Fukuchi no Yado Kafu yori-toko". The name "yori-toko" is based on the owner's desire for this place to continue to be a warm place where people can gather, just as it was once a popular "place to gather". With foundation work and insulation, it has become a comfortable home for the current climate.
