Beautiful place to stay, very accommodating host. The apartment is in a great location, walking distance from lots of great sights and restaurants. Gustavo and his team kindly went out of their way to store our bags after we checked out, allowing an additional day of unburdened travel before leaving Montevideo!

La Refugia: beautiful apartment in a historic building

The apartment is located in one of the oldest and most emblematic areas in Montevideo with architecture directly linked to the historical and architectural heritage of the city. Unfortunately, it is an area with many abandoned buildings, almost in debris and with no inhabitants, which makes its streets not suitable for walking at night. But during the day, no problem, many public and banking employees, several restaurants, some greengrocers and small supermarkets with everything you need. The walls of the entrance stairs up to Inés' apartment are very clean and in clear deterioration, but once you enter the apartment the atmosphere is totally different: you are in a beautiful place, simple but very cozy, with soft and harmonious colors and a window with a very panoramic line towards the port of Montevideo Bay. I really enjoyed Inés' apartment.

We had a great time in this breathtaking old world city palazzo. George and Betha were extremely kind and helpful and gave us useful tips to navigate this marvelous and charming, yet well underrated world capital. Walkable to most interesting parts of the city, safe environment, and many excellent restaurants close by. Thanks so much

Cristina is a wonderful host, very kind, friendly and attentive to the smallest details. Her house is very cozy and extremely pleasant to rest, there is a lot of nature, many beautiful birds and the sea is very close, which is a spectacle apart and is very worthwhile. The peace we found here hosted by Cristina is indescribable. Super recommended! Note a thousand!

We loved the location! The Old Town is in process of being restored, so there is a mix of run-down buildings and old restored buildings. It's kind of a cool time to get to know the city! There are stairs only to the apartment - something to keep in mind if a guest is not as physically able to climb stairs regularly. The apartment is beautful - comfortable beds, comfortable couch, good water pressure in the shower, very light and airy. They had just installed new floors and repainted the whole place, so it had a new feeling mixed with the old - tall windows overlooking the street with quaint balcony. Terrific location! If you plan to cook, the kitchen utensils / cooking supplies are sparse. But there are some very good restaurants in the area! We loved our stay here!

The place is located at the center of ciudad vieja of montevideo, so very accessible to the tourists attractions nearby. The place is really decently clean too. Josefina herself is also very friendly, highly recommend.

If you are looking for a quiet room with a very nice and informative host near the old town, Alejandro is a good choice. He tries very hard to make his guests feel comfortable. His dog is a bit stormy at first, but then calms down quickly. I was completely satisfied.

Sebastian is extremely attentive and charismatic. Their home accurately reflects the photos and description, offering excellent value in a city where the cost of living is high. Although the amenities are basic, they are a rare find for a affordable price in Montevideo. The location is ideal, with easy access to essential amenities and public transportation. Using Uber at night is a good option. The room met all my expectations, with a double bed, spacious sofa, work table and amenities needed in bathroom and kitchen for a comfortable stay, whether short or long. A rewarding experience.
