Efficient accommodation

I’m so grateful that I booked this apartment. Maria was outstanding, very attentive, responded always quickly and she even bake us a delish dessert. Cabin is exactly as described. Bed is good, space is beautiful and I was able to see the auroras from the cabin. Cabin is near the restaurant area of the city and lots of the amazing waterfalls that Iceland has to offer. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for everything!

“The best air b&b we have stayed in”. The guesthouse we stayed in was perfect. The place is extremely clean and well thought out, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The personalised note inside upon check in was such a lovely touch. The hot tub is easy to use and the geothermal water is welcome after a long day of exploring Iceland. The views from the cabin are also breathtaking. Sabine is a great and responsive host, providing really detailed instructions before check in and getting back to queries quickly. We also both really enjoyed our walking tour with her wonderful horses today. Could not recommend this place enough, as my boyfriend said while staying there “I think this is the best air b&b we have ever stayed in”…I couldn’t agree more!!

Such a peaceful, sweet and beautiful cottage! Great location! Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, great set up for resting and being together. Host was so great! She had great suggestions on what to do in the area and also for our next stop on our trip! We hope to be back ♥️

Very well equipped home, which is an excellent home base location for exploring the golden circle. Hjordis was an excellent host with very quick communication in answering any questions we had prior to and during our stay. Would highly recommend for a sightseeing trip to Iceland.

We immediately felt at home and can highly recommend the place. The apartment is large and spacious, the surroundings are very quiet, the bed is comfortable, the apartment was warmly heated and the kitchen well equipped. The outdoor pool is an absolute highlight. From the property, all the sights of the Golden Circle can be reached quickly by car. We will definitely return.

Elín’s “house of happiness” is nothing short of a dream come true! My husband and I loved every single second at this incredible secluded cabin outside of Selfoss and already dreaming of our next trip back. Elín is a warm and accommodating host, you won’t find a lovelier and more thoughtful host out there. And don’t get us started on the outdoor shower! It has the perfect temperature and pressure! Nice place, as described and pictured. We liked that it was already warm when we arrived, the water pressure in the shower is great, and the cooking basics (oil, salt, pepper) were provided. And we got to see the northern lights directly from the cabin!

We really enjoyed our stay here in this one of a kind, unique accommodation! The cabin had what we needed for our stay and we were able to rest easily. We had clear skies both night and saw amazing northern lights from our window and just outside. Amazing!!!

We had a fantastic time at Straumnes cabins. The cabins are very peaceful, and in a beautiful setting on the lake. We were spending a couple of days doing the golden circle and South coast and the cabin was perfectly located for this. The communication was great, the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed, and lovely and warm. Many thanks to our host for a great stay. We would highly recommend the cabin for family's exploring the golden circle that want a peaceful stay in the countryside.

This was the perfect place for our group of two moms and two teen daughters. It was within an hour of Reykjavik and key Golden Circle sites, and was easy access to Highway 1 that took us to the Southern part of the country to experience its dramatic features (our favorite part). Nearby Sellfoss offered the cheapest gas we found and lower prices at grocery stores than in Reykjavik. We had amazing views of the Northern Lights every night we stayed up late enough to see them due to the wide open views from the cabin and relative low light in the valley. The hosts were AMAZING, offering tips, keeping us informed about the area, and even dropping us a quick note when they'd heard through local reports that there would be a particularly great aurora display that night. We also loved the relative privacy and open space around the cabin. I almost hesitate to go on as we plan to return one day and I hope the place isn't booked solid!

We enjoyed our stay: it was one of the best equipped kitchens we came across during our trip. The outdoor shower was unique and very refreshing. We also appreciated the soft lighting options in the cabin. Both Birna and Pall were very friendly to chat with. We would definitely stay here again!

This cabin was our favorite place is Iceland, it really surpassed our expectations. We were able to spot Auroras Boreales right from the deck. Thank you so much for a great stay

Here you get what was described. Perfect for 2 people, also quite possible for 3 adults. Road traffic very low. The neighboring lake is not within walking distance. The landlord is very friendly.

Had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings! In addition, the host always helps you quickly with questions and everything was present in the cottage to get through your days. The basic articles were already present and the cottage is wonderful. The bedroom at the top in the crawl space was very narrow. So if you come with 4 people, keep in mind that it is quite narrow and climb to get to this sleeping area. Reach was also poor in the cottage and no wifi. All these points were no problem for us and enjoyed it immensely and would definitely recommend to everyone!

This is a beautiful house in a serene location. Hjalmar is a great host. Welcome drinks on our arrival made us feel we were in for a special stay. Highly recommended this place. All the things you need for a great stay. Remember to bring food to BBQ or roast. The nearest supermarket is 30 minutes away. If you are looking for that special getaway, this is it!

This little cabin was absolutely gorgeous and perfect. The location was amazing, secluded and with beautiful views. Northern lights visible at night from the cabin! The cabin is very cozy and stylish. The host was very kind and responsive and sweet. We really enjoyed our stay and visit at this cabin in Hella. I recommend this place!

The cabin was very cozy and true to photos. We were a group of 5, having just spent several nights at a crowed hostel, this cabin was heaven sent. It had all the necessities and more, which was such a delight! We would happily return if given the opportunity:))

Sígrun’s place was exactly what we were looking for! We had the best welcome ever being greeted by the northern lights. The house is well equipped with everything you need. From kitchen appliances to toiletries. And the hot tub outside, is an excellent place to relax. Location is perfect. Very nice and quiet and also close to all the main attractions of the golden circle. Our farewell was also memorable with northern lights dancing for us! Some places we’d like to recommend: Sky Lagoon, Thingvellir National park (20 min drive from the house, bring good shoes, can be very slippery). Tryggvaskali restaurant, Messinn restaurant, Silfra restaurant. And of course all the other attractions around the golden circle. Thank you, Sigrún, hope to be back soon!
