Summer paradise by Göta Kanal

Gammalrud is a farm, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula, which goes into Lake Viken and is called Vika forests. Here we conduct forestry and lamb production since 1976. Surrounded by the beautiful forest, lake Viken (the highest point of Göta Kanal) and the hospitality of Thord and Ulla, this is your idyllic home away from home. We have renovated the old farm dairy, "Mejeriet", and made it into a nice home that we rent out to guests. The ground floor consists of a hallway, a kitchen suited for 8 persons and a large living room with a cozy fireplace. The living room floor is made of hand-made bricks from the old brickworks in the nearby village Horn. The upper floor consists of one large room with wooden floor and alcoves for 6 persons. At the old canal landing, we have built a large boathouse. Here is a place, not just for boats, but also for gatherings and parties. If you´d like to go fishing you are more than welcome to rent our small boat to try your luck catching pike, perch or any of the other fish in lake Viken. There is also a sauna in the Boathouse. Gammalrud is a farm dating back to the Middle Ages. A full list of previous owners dates back to 1498. In the 1600s, Gammalrud became a manor when the first corp de logi was built by Thord Jönsson Reuterberg. In the 1800s, Gammalrud became part of the Swedish industrial history by one of the owners, Theodor Winborg, also known as “Ättikskungen” , the founder of Winborg´s vinegar and later by his brother in law, Helge Palmqrantz, an inventor and industrialist with machine factories in Stockholm. Both agricultural tools and weapons were made there. A machine gun, designed by Helge Palmqrantz to be part of the defense on Karlsborgs fortress, can be seen at the fortress museum.

Vill man spela golf så är detta ett utmärkt boende, Tranås GK ligger ett stenkast bort med en trevlig restaurang. Tranås har en vacker natur att vistas i året om, från Villa Linnea har du närheten till tallskogen och bad i sjön Sommen från gemensam brygga. Huset är nybyggt sommaren 2023 och trädgården är under uppbyggnad, där finns en generös altan i soligt läge.

Das Haus wurde 2017 renoviert und überzeugt unsere Gäste in der Gestaltung des Innenraumes. Hier fühlen sich allein Reisende, Paare und Familien gleichermaßen wohl. Auch für befreundet Reisende bietet sich die Möglichkeit, die benachbarte Strandstuga und Haus Kilstrand gleichzeitig zu mieten und so mit Freunden unterwegs zu sein und trotzdem seine Rückzugsmöglichkeit zu bewahren. The historic wooden town of Hjo is located midway between Malmo and Stockholm if you choose to drive along the beautiful west coast of lake Vattern. Our cottage is located in beautiful farmlands on the outskirts of Hjo. The cottage is from the early 1900s but has been renovated to modern standards. There is a bike path that runs through Hjo River valley which is a fantastic beautiful nature reserve that leads to Hjo center, which takes about 10 minutes with bicycle or 20 min by foot.

På en ås med utsikt över norra Vätterns vackra skärgård ligger vårt moderna, nybyggda fritidshus med stora sällskapsytor och en fantastisk takhöjd med fina ljusinsläpp. Här kan en lite större grupp/familj finna återhämtning med närhet till naturen men ändå är det bara 10 minuter med bilen till den vackra lilla staden Askersund. Tivedens nationalpark ligger nära liksom den långa sandstranden Harjebaden. Huset stod klart hösten 2018 och har alla bekvämligheter.

We stayed at Louise's and Per's home for 5 days. 3 adults and 5 children aged 3 - 14. They stay was an absolute pleasure for everyone. The children loved the pool and tub and we all enjoyed the big terrace and garden. Their home is truly unique and the interior simply amazing. The house is located in the outskirts of a lovely town and there is beautiful nature and activities all around. Per and Louis were fantastic! Super responsive and helpful :) Highly recommended!

We especially appreciated the quiet mornings and the calm atmosphere that made it so easy to relax and recharge. Jenny was a kind and attentive host, quick to respond and genuinely welcoming. Soms tref je een pareltje dat je het liefst voor jezelf houdt zodat je altijd terecht kunt. Ann-Katrins huis is er zo een. Via een geweldige oprit/bosweg kom je bij de boerderij aan, waar het huisje (vroeger het hoofdhuis) deel van uitmaakt. Het huis zelf is groot, schoon en heeft alles wat je kunt wensen. Ann-Katrin is gastvrij, geeft leuke tips en is goed bereikbaar. Ik kom graag terug!

Each morning before breakfast we walked across the sunny lawn and the forest to the sandy beach of lake Viken, where we had our first swim of the day. The rest of the days we enjoyed the sunshine on the large terrace or went hiking or cycling. The house was very comfortable due to the windows on all sides, the view and the complete facilities of good quality. It merely felt as an house for permanent living rather than a holiday home. Ulrika is a very nice host: well communicating, quickly responding, friendly and flexible.

Wer die authentische 'Schwedenidylle' sucht, ist hier genau richtig! Das Torp ist noch schöner als auf den Bildern und mit so viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Tomaz und seine Familie haben uns herzlich empfangen, mit jeder Menge Infos über die Region versorgt und hatten immer ein offenes Ohr. Wir hatten eine tolle Woche und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Ein Highlight war das gemeinsame BBQ am Lagerfeuer inkl. Brot backen und Holz sammeln mit den Kindern. Wir empfehlen die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiter und kommen jederzeit gerne wieder!

Es war noch schöner, als wir es uns vorgestellt hatten. Das Haus ist wunderschön und der Blick auf den See atemberaubend. Wir waren eigentlich die ganze Woche nur am und im Haus. Haben das Boot zum Angeln genutzt und die kleinen Inseln im See erkundet. Wir sind freundlich von Tomas empfangen worden und auch Fredrik war immer gut zu erreichen und hat unserem Sohn über Tomas Angelköder zukommen lassen. Fredrik haben wir auch noch persönlich kennengelernt. Das Haus ist gemütlich, perfekt ausgestattet und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und würden es jedem von Herzen empfehlen.

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit in dem malerischen Dorf Stenberga! Das liebevoll renovierte Haus eignet sich gut als Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen & Ausflüge in Småland. Die Ausstattung ist perfekt, um auch mit einem Kleinkind eine längere Zeit dort zu verbringen: von einem Babybett über einen Hochstuhl bis hin zu Kleinkindgeschirr- und Besteck ist alles vorhanden. Die Kommunikation mit Clasina lief ebenfalls sehr gut - wir empfehlen die Unterkunft gerne weiter!

Richard var en super god vært! Meget flink og hjælpsom. Boligen var rigtig hyggelig, og selvom køkkenet var lille, så manglede vi ikke noget. Orangeriet tilknyttet boligen brugte vi også flittigt. Det var dejligt med et uderum. Derudover var det tætliggende badested rart at komme i efter en varm dag. Vi havde alt i alt et rigtig dejligt ophold!

Close proximity to the beach and the lake-view stands above all other things I can think of when describing Maria’s house. Maria was quick in responding to messages. We did know there was only one bathroom and toilet before booking it for us 5 adults and 2 kids. But now it feels like for a house this large which can accommodate 10 guests, an extra bathroom toilet would be great :)
