”Japanese foods””Traditional culture Experience”

MichaelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I had such a good time at Tomomi and Masa's house! They were very welcoming, the food was really delicious (breakfast/dinner were some of my favorite parts of the trip), and they were super helpful giving advice for things to do in the area. It's in a suburban neighborhood, so you'll either want a car or be okay walking 15 minutes to the nearest station. I didn't have a car, and Tomomi offered to pick me up from the station when I arrived. With a 15 min-walk to Hon-Yura station it was easy to get to Yamaguchi city or Shimonoseki or even Akiyoshidai (by bus) which is a beautiful national park with a giant cave system to explore. If you're looking for something away from the big cities with an amazing family to stay with, definitely stay here.

My stay was amazing. I really liked my room, it was very comfortable. The whole stay is super chilled. And my hosts were super friendly. Beautiful countryside. I’m glad I met them.

A serene pathway is flanked by blooming cherry blossom trees, their branches arching overhead. The soft pink petals create a gentle canopy, while sunlight casts dappled shadows on the ground. A wooden railing borders the path, alongside a calm stream reflecting the vibrant scenery.

This is a female-only guest house

We LOVED this visit. Fumiko was super helpful… drove us from/to the us station, booked a table for dinner and ran us there to make our first night easy. Lovely historic old town. Great river cruise. Lovely park at Hagi castle. Big sandy -we swam. Amazing exhibition in local gallery. Good Hagi pottery around. Great eateries, cafes. We only had 3 nights - could have stayed much longer. But Fumiko made it great… so much fun. So kind. Sheeven drove us to a sightseeing spot on our departure. We met lively folk at the English class in the workshop downstairs. Join in when you visit! We hope to return.

An old house surrounded by rice fields 10-minute drive from Shin-Yamaguchi Station

JakobRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Our stay at Aki's place was the best in all of 3 weeks of Japan travel. After a week in busy cities, the calm, quiet and traditional place between ricefields and wooded hills brought long-sought comfort and peace. It was my biggest pleasure to hold long conversations with Aki about everyday life, people, and the world. He is a thoughtfull open-hearted traveller who found a home with his cheerful and empathetic wife - now they both go out of their way to make travellers from all over the world feel right at home. Thanks for welcoming us into your home, preparing dinner together and the joyful evenings as friends! Let's meet again - I'm sure we will :)

【female only】Nostime lodge A (available in English

I had a comfortable stay at the accommodation. The only downside is that it takes about 20 minutes from Tobata Station, and it's a bit steep to get to the house. There's also a staircase in the middle, so it's a little difficult, but the price is cheap, so it's understandable. The room was a single room, but it was tidy. It was cold in the evening, but it was okay to sleep with the heater on. It was a typical Japanese house, so I liked it! The host was very kind and listened to my requests. The bathroom and bathroom were tidy, and it was really nice to be able to cook microwave ovens and refrigerators in the kitchen. However, the convenience store mart is a little far away. If I come on a trip to Kitakyushu later, I want to come again. There is a slight disadvantage, but I want to stay really comfortably and come again!

We loved our stay at Koukasha's. A beautiful place stay in stunning natural surroundings, we wish we could have stayed longer! Staff were super friendly and accommodated my dietary requirements for breakfast which was delicious!! We will have to come back and try the sauna too!

Limited to one group per day, with free pick-up, enjoy a relaxing countryside time at Minpaku Hotaru-no-Yado

LaurenRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Amazing experience! Host very generously picked me up from the train station, took me to the grocery store, and gave me a ride back to the train station the morning I left. Beautiful place, very traditional. Only downside is that it's quite far from central Tsuwano by foot, totally accessible by car. Thanks so much for the blessed memories!
