Location Opened in May 2024. Located in the heart of Takayama's historic district, Makoto-ya Ojin is a stylish inn in 1-chome, Ojin-cho, Takayama City, where the good old Japanese landscape remains. In front of our house, which is sandwiched between the Hida-Buri Highway that connects the former Toyama and Takayama, there are the Nissho-bu Mingei Kan and the Yoshima residence, which are important cultural properties that show the rich cultural assets of Japan, and this area is designated as a preservation district for traditional buildings. You can enjoy the old town and beautiful scenery while experiencing historic buildings. It is a 2-minute walk to Miyagawa Morning Market and a 5-minute walk to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the site of the autumn Takayama Festival. The festival stall in this area is called Hōmeita, and it has a variety of decorations such as a palanquin and sculptures (1-minute walk to the stall). Enjoy Takayama's history to the fullest in an excellent location. <Building and Hida master carpenters> Built 145 years ago by a master craftsman from Hida, this building has been revived here by modern craftsmen. Please be sure to read all the information about the facility before booking, and apply after understanding and agreeing to it. We renovated an old Japanese house. As this is a private rental, you can use it as if it were your own home, but the host will be staying on Fridays and Saturdays when the store on the first floor is open. We also accept pets, and you can bring them with you when you eat on the first floor.However, regular customers will also come to the store on Friday and Saturday, so if the dog barks too much, please put it in the cage on the 3rd floor. The first-floor bistro offers over 100 types of drinks, including wine (including natural wine), original cocktails, craft beer, craft gin, and whiskey, as well as à la carte dishes (Fridays and Saturdays only) and set meals (reservations required; ¥8,000 on Fridays and Saturdays, ¥10,000 on other days). "Yoko's Inn Wakuwaku" is a "separate" inn adjacent to the creative home cooking restaurant "Wakuwaku", limited to one group per day. There is a private entrance. The first floor is a living space with a dining table, and the second floor is a bedroom. From the window, you can see the vast rural landscape and the Northern Alps Tateyama mountain range in the distance. Guests can optionally have breakfast, dinner, etc. (breakfast 1,000 yen, dinner from 2,000 yen. Please ask). Features of this inn include songs and saxophone performances by the owner couple, a wood stove experience, a barbecue in the garden, and calligraphy lessons (extra charge).
