Featured in the film, "The sound of music", the lower station is located in the east of St. Wolfgang (in the state of Upper Austria), in front of Wolfgangsee. A great family day out with stunning views.

The SchafbergBahn is the steepest cogwheel railway in Austria. Once on the top, magnificent Alpine views and warm Austrian hospitality beckon. You can also walk to the Top, but it's very strenuous!

Probably the most famous hike and a very special highlight is the ascent of the Schafberg. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can also enjoy the wonderful lake panorama using the historic cogwheel train.
