This is a beautiful little boardwalk located in the pond of brackish water right off of Sugar Beach. In fact, bring the beach gear and layout on the beach right here. The boardwalk is a wonderful spot to learn about the native birds and wildlife and then catch some rays or take a swim at the beach. If you are a birder than this is a must. Hawaii has some amazing native birds and some of the best specimens can be spotted here.

Close to Kihei Bay Surf, the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge – is at the Kihei end, just off Mokulele Highway (now called Veterans Highway, but not by locals). There is an informative visitor center, and you can walk around the sanctuary and go on the boardwalk to look for birds.

Bird Watching is best at Kealia Pond. There is a boardwalk along N. Kihei Road and a visitor center off of the Mokulele Highway.
