If you like trees and riverside walks, this is a perfect place to visit. Just north of Dunkeld on the A9, this National Trust for Scotland owned land includes some majestic heritage trees including Douglas firs on the banks on the river Braan. There is an almost level access circular walk, but also the option to walk further along the river to Rumbling Bridge and beyond. It should take about 75 minutes to drive from the cottage to the Hermitage, motorway traffic permitting.

A short but beautiful walk in the heart of 'big tree country'. Huge Douglas Firs flank the path which leads to Ossian's Hall - a place of contemplation and reflection with a spectacular waterfall view. Definitely worth a visit.

The Hermitage offers a great walk of around 2km which shows off an excellent stretch of the river Braan. There is parking and a mobile catering unit in summer. The waterfall is incredible and the paths are good. It takes around 20mins to get there by car, from Stanley. It is just off the A9 heading north.

5 miles from the property, a great place for a walk. Can be an easy stroll or extended to take in the surrounding trails.
