Corita Art Center

Why locals recommend it

A small space on the campus of Immaculate Heart High School dedicated to the works of Corita Kent, a Catholic nun whose bold and vibrant serigraphs changed the world when she was alive. During the mid-to-late 1960s she became quite a political and civil rights activist and made neon psychedelic Warholian pop art and became famous for it. You can still purchase some of the old ‘60s prints—real gems—but you should make an appointment for that.

Technically outside of the neighborhood, but if you love art, this place is a must. A friend from CT wanted to come here... the work is thought provoking (and familiar). A precursor to Warhol.
