Access to the valley is on our doorstep at Hendra. Within the Wooded valley and forest is an exciting network of pathways, streams and many interesting archaeological mining remains from the previous century. Lots of nature and wildlife to explore. Great for a variety of walking abilities. Sturdy boots advised as surfaces are uneven, steep and muddy in many places. To access the valley on foot head down the lane towards the railway crossing on the A390 and take the footpath on the other side of the road in to the valley following the Par Canal tow path that runs parallel to the railway line. At Pontsmill you enter the Valley with the choice of Valley floor route or Carmear's incline.

5 minutes drive. Enticing walking along leats and the river, through the woods the hide industrial relics and giant boulders. This is possibly my favourite place.

Stunning woods with a lot of history. Great in any weather. April /May is the most fabulous time with carpets of Bluebells covering the ground. A sight not to be missed. Less than 10 mins away from us.
