Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey in England founded in 1128 by William Giffard, the Bishop of Winchester. It is managed by English Heritage and is free of charge to enter.

Ruins of the first Cistercian Monastery in England, founded in 1128. Lovely for a short walk, look around and picnic in the summer.
