Earliest parts of Fyvie date from the 13th century. Fyvie was the site of an open air court by Robert The Bruce and Charles the 1st lived here as a child.
Until recent times the seat of the Forbes-Leith family, now owned and run by National Trust for Scotland. Lovely walks in the grounds surrounding a castle with some dark secrets!
With over 260 castles, stately homes and ruins dotting its landscape, Aberdeenshire is unsurprisingly known as 'Scotland's Castle Country.' Fyvie Castle is one of our favourites for children and adults - good cafe as well.
