Metra station takes you downtown in 10 minutes. Recommend this over the Green line off of Cottage because it is cleaner and just feels safer to me.
The closest train station to the city is the 63rd Street Metra, just up the street at the corner of Dorchester and 63rd. The best way to find the schedule and maps is to use the train settings of Google Maps. Select your destination, select the train option, then select "options" at the top right and turn "train" on. Doing this removes taking any buses, because they're not needed, and this is the quickest route to the city anyhow.
