Fort Steele Heritage Town gives visitors a real understanding of life in the Columbia Valley about 150 years ago. It is a 1 hour and 15 minute drive south from Invermere but worth the trip. Plan to spend the day. They also feature summer theatre each year with a play based on local history and folklore. The new library facility is located in the new Community Centre across from the Sobey’s grocery store. The public park at Kinsman’s beach is also a great place to take the kids.
