Ngong Road Forest Sanctuary

Why locals recommend it

Tourists rarely visit this forest in central Nairobi, but it’s more than a thousand acres and is full of walking and running trails. There’s a pair of nesting hornbills here, so if you’re into birds, this is the place to come. I like to take a guide when I go as they’re so knowledgeable and can spend the day pointing out different species. Visit the nursery and buy indigenous tree seedlings, or plant a tree during your visit.
