Why locals recommend it
Fabulous park with monuments, tennis courts, and kid's playgrounds (x2!), and also close to many excellent restaurants on Dekalb Ave. A great place to relax and people-watch. Check out the Farmer's Market every Saturday along the park's east side.
Tips from locals
Lovely sloped park with tennis and picnic areas, as well as a famous monument to Revolutionary War veterans who died aboard British prison ships. The heart of Fort Greene.
Farmers market on Saturday, including artisan market and compost drop-off. Lawns and steps for hangout and workout.
Nestled in one of the most beautiful Brooklyn neighborhoods and less than a ten minute walk away, it's a great place to go for walk, a run or just absorb the sights. Sunday afternoon Soul Summit in the Summertime is the best time to shake your money maker.
The next closest park after Herbert King. Beautiful, historic spot. GREAT farmer's market on Saturdays, free dog time, tennis courts, etc.
