Elisabeth’s sympathy for the Hungarians even benefited the Austro-Hungarian Empire as Hungarians returned her affection, strengthening peace between the dynasty and the nation. Several sites in Hungary were named after her, two of Budapest's districts; Erzsébetváros and Pesterzsébet bear her name, and most famously, Elisabeth Bridge. Her bronze statue can be seen in a small garden by the Buda side of the bridge.
