Wellington Zoo is nestled in the city's green town belt and is home to more than 500 native & exotic endangered animals. Check out the daily talks and animal feedings, and get up close to Red Pandas, Capybaras, Meerkats, Lemurs and Giraffes.

Wellington has a beautiful zoo along with their Nest which is where they fix the injured animals. This has glass walls so the public can see when they are working on animals. Very interesting and a great learning experience and appreciation for the animals. Also a lovely cafe to sit down and replenish your reserves. Take good walking shoes as a bit up and down the landscape.

A great day out with the kids. 35 minute walk or (depending on the route) about 10 minutes by public transport.

Wellington's humble zoo. If you're lucky, you can get up close to a kiwi bird!
