Hembury Fort is a Scheduled Monument (No. 29660) and survives in exceptionally good condition with well defined circuit of defences surrounding the entire monument. It was deemed as 'High Risk' on the English Heritage's 'At Risk Register' and was recognised as on of the highest priority sites in Devon. The site shows evidence of settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, used as an Iron Age Fort and as a base for the Roman army in the middle of the 1st century AD

Hembury Fort is an iron age hill fort far older than stone henge. Its a walk through some striking woodland with some great earthen banks for kids to go climbing around. Emerging from the woods, the hill has some amazing views across the local area.

(7min drive) Hembury Fort is an iron age hill fort (much older than stone henge). You walk through some incredible woodland with some fab earthen banks for the children to go climbing around. As you emerge from the woods, there are some wonderful views across the local area.

Hembury Fort just 12 mins by car Ia nice short walk to the hill top commanding a beautiful view south and over the town of Honiton. The site shows evidence of settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, used as an Iron Age Fort and as a base for the Roman army in the middle of the 1st century AD.
