At the Royal York’s moody pub, suits in dry-cleaning bags decorate the back of every second club chair, and conversations are muffled by thick carpeting and brocade curtains. The room, all done up in maroon with, oddly enough, pops of leopard print, is dated—but endearingly so. It feels like stepping into the bar car of a train circa 1980.
Even more fun, go up to the second level and there's a secret bar called "York Station" that's been modeled after a train car. The bartender will wear a conductors hat if you ask nicely.
Wonderful service and the best martini's in the city. A 45 minute walk or 20 minute TTC ride from your vacation rental.
