Fresh grilled fish, seafood and Filete de Espada have to be eaten here! Speciality: "Filete de Espada". Filete de Espada – Espada Preto (Black scabbardfish) is a species that mainly live in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean and much appreciated in Madeira. As a fish it has an ugly look (look for them in Mercado dos Lavradores, in Funchal) but tastes good when cooked. These fish are extremely palatable, with a delicate texture and almost buttery flavour. Fillets that are seasoned with salt, bay leaves, pepper, minced garlic and lemon juice, marinated. Peeled fish fillets are then dipped in egg and flour, fried in oil and sprinkled with fresh parsley, sometimes sided with fried banana.
