Kaleici district is an important tourism point with ancient ruins. These ruins are a part of the walls surrounding the region and the harbor breakwater in the inner harbor. The Walls, which surround the region from inside and outside, are a common artifact from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. There are about 3000 houses inside the city walls in the region.
