This is Fulham Palace, within Bishop's Park. You could spend an entire day here seeing the gardens, having a picnic (bring your food - the cafe is pricey!), or letting the children run wild through the vast green spaces.
Beautiful old palace, free to visit the grounds and have a look around, in Bishops Park (also worth a visit).
I'm not sure what goes on, but I once went to a smashing cocktail party here. Many Londoners are unaware that there is a Palace here, despite the well travelled "Fulham Palace" Rd. Nice historic steps up from the Thames...
Fulham Palace is truly beautiful. Originally a country retreat for London's bishops, the current building dates back to 1495 and inside there's a small museum, a Tudor courtyard, well run restaurant and a busy gallery. Outside you'll find an 18th-century walled garden, and a fascinating botanical collection. Outdoor summer barbecues and outdoor cinema screening help to make this a real gem.
