Nestled 20 minutes from Dannevirke in a quiet suburb with a domain in the backyard if you feel like a stroll and take in the view. You can mingle with the friendly locals at the Black Dog pub, just a 5 minute walk down the road, open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, or stay in your own little tranquil spot, swing in the hammock, and cook on the BBQ if you prefer a quiet night in. Larger cities 1 hour drive away.

This accomodation is specifically for those who travel with their pets and are finding hard to find a pet friendly accomodation. Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally located place. 5minute drive to the city or you can take a 15minute walk to the city. We have a big playing field accross the road perfect for those with dogs. 5minute walk to the Manwatu River walkway and the esplanade.

Putara base camp feature a fully equipped kitchen, an open plan living area and dorm style sleeping area (6 beds are on the mezzanine floor, access is only by a ladder) with a capacity of 10 guest. You also have the option to pitch a tent. A separate ablution block with 5 showers and toilets. Nice big fenced grounds for the kids to play and have their little adventure. The Tararua forest park offers beautiful bush walk and is located 5 minutes down the road and great swimming holes nearby.

Location Location

"Location Location" is a charming cottage built in the 1950's and relocated to the rear section in the 1970's. In early 2024 she received a makeover which included a totally new kitchen and updated bathroom. She was then furnished through out. The cottage is extremely private, and we a lucky that our neighbors are private and quiet. Some of the cottage charm extends outside to a private and sunny courtyard shaded by native trees and a Tui who visits most days.

Good place for family get togethers. Pets by arrangement. Private and large secluded garden. Chickens and free range eggs, ping-pong table and heaps of space. There are 3 bedrooms downstairs and an upstairs attic with 3 single beds plus a double. Includes a playroom.

Phillipa is a lovely host and her verandah would be a pleasant place to have a coffee and watch our dogs exploring her yard. Phillipa is in the process of restoring her old farmhouse and I look forward to seeing further developments if I am down that way again and would definitely stay there.

We stayed here with 12 friends for my husband’s 30th, and it was absolutely perfect. He loves native bush and birds, so this place was a dream. The house feels like a fairytale—spacious, warm, and beautifully designed. The kitchen is well-equipped and flows easily to the patio, where we barbecued and dined outdoors. There’s a handy kitchen window for passing food outside, and both indoor and outdoor tables made it easy to adapt to the weather. The property sits on 7 acres of native bush with walking tracks, birds like piwakawakas following us, and a magical glow worm walk at night. There's an outdoor fire area with couches, ambient lighting, and a speaker system that connects throughout the house and outside. It’s perfect for reconnecting with friends and nature. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and so grateful. Huge thanks to the hosts for the clear communication and thoughtful touches. If you're thinking of booking—do it. You won’t regret it.

What a great place to stay. Handy yo everything we needed, especially golf. Great check in treats, especially loved the OJ, Peanuts & Snickers Bars. The addition of a chipping net to practice in the back yard was a very special touch. Highly recommended & we'll definstely be back when next in Palmy. Thanks Jo for a great stay.
