Snapper Lock is a private cottage at the foot of Mt. Mocchomu in Onana, southern Yakushima. The nearest bus stop is a 6-minute walk. It is a quiet place surrounded by nature. The large living room of about 32 ㎡ can accommodate up to 5 people. (One is a sofa bed) The deck has an outdoor table and hammock, and a completely private forest spreads out. You can relax while taking a forest bath. Parking is also available for 2-3 vehicles. There is also a fire pit on the premises. The building was self-built by the owner. The building materials used are Japanese cedar and local cedar. The walls are plastered with lacquer, and the kitchen is made from recycled waste materials. We aim to be an inn that is friendly to both people and the environment, by not providing disposable amenities and keeping equipment to a minimum. There are insects and wild animals on Yakushima, so be careful to keep them out by closing the screens when you open the windows. Note: Several times a year, from 8 am to 9 am during the rainy season, large numbers of "feather ants" will appear on the island. They are attracted to lights, so we ask that you close the windows and turn off the lights in the room. Thank you for your understanding.

Fisherman〜ペシュール　大自然と共に暮らす家

The owner was a fisherman, so we named it pêcheur (fisherman). Following his will to avoid creating an environment where people gathering at the house would cause the fish to flee, we use environmentally friendly detergents as much as possible. What you can enjoy during your stay at this house is the quietness. 360 degrees, the green jumps into your eyes. Come and be healed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, surrounded by nature. The starry sky at night is also a must-see. It is our wish that you will be embraced by the stars and remember the original landscape. Hachimanju Tea Garden and Jomon Farm are within walking distance. Relatively close to Miyanoura, Awa, and the airport, the location is excellent for sightseeing, shopping, and bus travel.

This is a place for families and friends.You can use the open-air bath and sauna that can accommodate 2-3 people right down the side of the inn.You can also swim in the river because it is right next to it. There is also a deck by the river, so please use it for breakfast and coffee time. Relax in a place surrounded by nature and water, typical of Yakushima. There were reviews saying that the sauna temperature was low, but we have now replaced the heater with a Japanese-made Broos sauna, so guests can enjoy a hot sauna.We will lend one set of sauna ponchos and hats per person during your stay.There are houses on the other side of the river, so it is not a completely private space.We recommend bringing a swimsuit.

South Coast House Entire self contained home/貸切別荘

South Coast House is a traditional Japanese style home located on the very south coast of the island. It is very private, surrounded by nature with great sea and mountain views. Two natural outdoor hot spring Onsens - Harauchi and Yudomari are just a few minutes drive away. There is also some hiking, swimming and snorkelling spots close by. It is best to have a rental car as we are quite far from from the main towns, restaurants and most popular hiking trails. サウスコーストハウスは屋久島の地杉で建てられた日本家屋です。

Hirauchi Hot Spot 2 bedroom Japanese style house

Hirauchi Hot Spot is a traditional Japanese style house located in the south of the island. It is easy to find on the main road next to a bus stop. It has great sea and mountain views and is surrounded by nature. Two famous open air onsens - Hirauchi and Yudomari are just a few minutes walk away. We have another beautiful self contained house nearby which caters for up to 6 people. Have a look “South Coast House “ 屋久島の南部にある人気の観光スポット「平内海中温泉」が近い日本家屋です。湯泊温泉と共に徒歩圏内です。人気の登山コースからは遠いのでレンタカーをお勧めします。

Fisherman's living experience inn: Fuku no Ki

Yakushima is famous for mountains, but the sea, fish are also attractive. This inn is a bit inconvenient, but we treat you like family. And you can eat delicious fresh fish. The building is a converted fisherman's barn. We will cook fish together, heat Goemon bath with firewood, and provide you with a stay as if you were living with us. One cooking experience is included during your stay. On other days, you will stay without meals. Optional fishing boat tour (extra charge) is also available.

Miyanoura Port Convenience: Riverside Entire home

We chose our accommodation's location carefully to make it as convenient as possible. Yakushima is quite remote and doesn't have many transportation options. Yakushima is relatively large, covering about 100 kilometers. There are restaurants and supermarkets scattered around, but it can be challenging to find rental cars or taxis. →You can walk to popular restaurants in just 3 minutes, so you can have a great meal and easily return. Additionally, a supermarket is only a 7-minute walk away.

Ocean view Cottage with the open air bath

You can take the exclusive-use-an-open-air-bath overlooking the sea and overlooking the the sky full of stars. There are the 5 wooden cottage on the 2500 square meters site. It is 15 min from Anbou port by car. Please use a rent-a-car by all means, since this is located outside of the city. Transportation by bus is very very inconvenience.We do not offer pick up service. We obtained an official permission from the local government of Kagoshima Prefecture to do business with the cottage.

This location is very quiet & secret place for vacation home. There is a small Tatami room like a tea celemony room that you can use as yoga, meditation etc. for your private time. However, no kitchen facility. We provide an electric pot,cups,small dishies, refrigerater, microwave and oven grills toaster, so you can bring some food etc. There is sea and forest view from the guest cottage. Cottage is made in Japanese style with aromatic local cedar wood , open beams, and Shoji screens.

Winner of the 2024 IDA Design award and the 2025 NY Architectural Design Award, the Nest was designed by architect Tsukasa Ono using only local materials. It sits on six acres of wild forest and garden, and is a sublime base to explore Yakushima. We are walking distance to a supermarket, restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, a ten minute drive to world-famous Hirauchi Kaichu onsen, and a twenty minute walk to Onoiada Onsen.
