Our recent stay at Usnea was genuinely the most amazing experience we could have asked for. Ben and Joan are the kindest, most inspiring hosts and it is clear they have put decades of passion into this beautiful property. From the entrance, to the guest cottage, to the many walking trails and gardens throughout, this place truly is breathtaking. It is really no surprise so many guests have visited several times.

Beautiful cottage surrounded by mass of tall gum trees and gardens. Set in the quaint village of Herberton in the high country of the tablelands the weather was perfect for the middle of summer in nth qld. Loved the animals, a friendly donkey and cow, and 3 dogs who loved to visit the cottage. Thanks Jane for our wonderful stay.

Dallas was a really good host! He was VERY friendly and the chocolates on top of the towels where so cute! And the welcome sign! It where the little things! He filled the fridge with lots of food! It was a 10 out of 10! We loved our stay!

Lovely cabin backing onto the rainforest and river. John was the perfect host, gave a fiendly tour around the property then we returned to the cabin with fresh hot cross buns waiting for us. They have obviously given a lot of thought into everything that we might need or want to make our stay as comfortable as possible because it was all there, and some. The area was a post card and it was so nice to come back to such a well appointed little cabin in the forest after a day of exploring the tablelands.

This place was like being a million miles away. It was so peaceful & quiet. It was lovely & cool - such a nice break away from the heat in Cairns. Loved hearing the birds of a morning & seeing the kangaroos just grazing. The barn had everything we needed which was perfect. Helen’s homemade marmalade was amazing. lt’s great to stay somewhere we can take our dog also - he loved it! Can’t wait to come back to this bit of paradise again one day. Thank you to Alec & Helen - your place was beautiful.

Natalie's place was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the nearby attractions like Yungaburra and Lake's Eacham and Barrine. Natalie was a very generous host she stocked up the fridge with breakfast food as well as pod coffee and a selection of tea. The verandah was lovely with hanging baskets and Balinese decor as well as a hammock! We enjoyed having breakfast out here. We didn't know there would be a pizza oven but will keep that in mind for next time. We thoroughly recommend staying ar Natalie's place! Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Jean's place really is right on the edge of the rainforest. You can hear and see the birds and animals, but we didn't see any animals from the apartment. But the tree kangaroos are around - we saw one in the middle of the Kennedy Highway not far from Ravenshoe. Jean is a great host. The apartment is under her house, it's small but is well designed and feels spacious and private. It's well equipped for cooking but the Ravenshoe pub is also only 10 minutes away. Perfect for a few days away for a couple. Lots of great walks and waterfalls in the region too.

Thank you, Margie and Vit, for the most beautiful two nights. It was the best place to end our roadtrip and prepare for our flight home. The rooms and your house are amazing and also your very warm welcome have made us feel right at home. We really enjoyed our BBQ and talking to you the whole evening. We have stayed in a lot of Air BNBs, some considerably more expensive than this one. However, no-one has a been as thoughtful. We had a fresh shop completed for us that showcased some local produce for a variety of breakfast options. We felt incredibly welcome and at home. We were searching a place that allowed us to recharge away from the busy world and this was perfect, we felt at peace yet could still hop in the car and within 10 minutes could visit a cafe and buy produce. We had cows on our back doorstep which our hosts would answer our questions, yet would allow us to simply enjoy having nature around us. Finally one of the most important things when staying at an air bnb, the bed was very comfortable. There is nothing worse than a perfect air BnB than to be let down by a poor bed, certainly not the case here.
