This location is as described. Very tranquil and well maintained. Easy to find. Because of the dry season the lake is dry. Highly recommended.

I had an unforgettable stay at Spenky's hut. If you’re looking to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace a simpler way of life, this is the place for you. Botopasi village is incredible, and learning about the Saramaccan people’s rich culture and history is profoundly rewarding. The hut, immersed in lush nature and near the Suriname River, offers a window into daily life: fishing, swimming, and washing clothes in the river. The hospitality was heartwarming. Bringing school supplies or goods for local kids is a thoughtful gesture—they’re amazing and appreciate support in this isolated area. Make sure to stock up on food and coordinate with Spenky before your trip. This experience was beyond memorable. The serene surroundings, cultural richness, and genuine connections made this adventure one I’ll treasure forever. Highly recommend this unique stay!

Clea and Mitchel are great hosts. They are very easygoing, respectful, help a lot in unexpected situations. They are very kind. The place is amazing, very close to amazon jungle, the area is calm, quiet, you can walk a lot. you can count on them with shuttle help to airport. I wanna go back one day.

Anouk’s place is a true paradise in a beautiful garden of a wonderful family. Anouk guides you with detailed directions all the way to her house. A haven for independent travelers like us. At location you can be guided bij locals to the forest or around the villages. Or just enjoy a swim in the river, sitting at the porch, the food ( which you have to bring yourself ) the sounds of the jungle…We highly recommend this place, we are definitely coming back to this place if we ever go back to Surinam.
