Neighbourhoods

Uig is the village just a mile from our house, it has a Supermarket with Post Office, a Filling Station with shop and takeaway. There are 3 pubs and restaurants, and 4 tearooms/cafe's/takeaways. It is a well serviced village and is where you get the ferry to take you to the Outer Hebrides, Uist and Harris. There are woodland walks and shoreline walks. There is also a football pitch and play park.

Traveler advice

What to pack

Make sure you bring good walking shoes and waterproofs.

There is a lot of walking in Skye so make sure you bring suitable footwear, waterproof if possible as the ground can be boggy. Also it's Scotland, so probably will rain, good waterproofs will help you enjoy Skye whatever the weather.
Customs and culture

Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints.

Skye is beautiful and accommodates thousands of visitors. Please do not remove anything for the land and also do not make stone structures. The animals depend on the grass being able to grow so please stick to pathways. Also please do not leave any rubbish behind you. There are no toilet facilities at any of the outdoor viewpoints and walks. Please take the time to find your nearest facility before you go.
